honestly it is no big deal. pockets are super easy too.

I started when DS was 11 months old, and it really hasn't been that much of a pain. We mainly use prefolds and covers.

I like to sew, so now I have fun things to make!

To be honest. I miss it. DS 2 is trained and we don't plan on any more kids. It was sad to see the diapers go. I sold them a few months ago.

My first two were in sposies. My 3rd was switched to cloth at about 4 months. My last two were/are exclusively cloth diapered. I would NEVER go back to disposables.

They are expensive, they stink, they take up a lot of room with garbage, you run out and then have to make trips to the store, etc...

I cloth.

no comparison to having your coffee, reading email with my feet plopped up on the desk while the load is half way finished washing. Not having to run to the flippin store for diapers ---------------------priceless!!!!!!!!!

not only did I not see it as bothersome but I had a serious life saving surgery that required 9 months of recovery and I had to put my sons in disposables for about 7.5 months. I could not wait to get them back into cloth.

I love cding. I'll be a little bit sad when ds is using the potty.

I never felt it was a pain. The only times I found it annoying were while out....the fact that the cloth diapers took up more room in a bag, and having to bring the soiled (esp poopy) ones back home. So sometimes I used disposables while going out. We also used disposables for trips. But after each trip was over it was a relief to get back to cloth. In my experience with both kids, cloth fit better, cloth worked better, and cloth was easier (yes, easier) to put on than disposables, and with no super-absorbant chemical drying out my very sensitive hands, and just more pleasant to handle. And not hauling giant bags of disposables home from the store, and not spending the money on them, was great. I never minded washing them...it was truly no big deal.

i have stuffed one pocket in my life and knew it wasn't for me! I am totally in love with PFs and covers and thirsty AIOs

jillians closet has a thing where you can try 5 or so different kinds of dipes. the biggest 'hassle' is getting them through that initial wash to fluff them up.

i thought that "everyone" would be right and i would struggle w/ cloth eventually give up. ha! not a chance! i was bummed when i had t do another day of sposies because ds's stump was irritated from the covers.

Sometimes it is more of a pain. But really, I enjoy it. I like having all different colors of diapers and I really get satisfaction from not throwing away a whole bunch of disposables every week. But if I'm having a particularly hard/long week, I'll switch over to sposies for a few days for a break. But now I just think sposies are so boring and wasteful, I can't stand using them for more then a couple days.

This Overall I love cloth diapering.

We have never used disposables. So, I can't comment on whether it's a pain, comparatively speaking. But the fact that we did the entire diapering phase without using disposables tells me that it's at least possible.

I WOHM and I don't find it a pain, usually. I do sometimes, but that's when I'm of a mood to find everything a pain. I'm like the PP who said it's almost like a hobby to her. Me too. I love doing the diapers. I esp love stuffing them, freshly clean and all neat and tidy. It's easy to do and keeps me busy in those late evening hours when I want to chill out, but also want to do something with my hands.

Agreed.... I loved it. Disposables were ALWAYS leaking, and there is nothing worse than being in a gross gas station bathroom, no changing station, a leaking pooptastrophe, no more back-up clothes for either of you, and several hours of driving ahead of you.

Cloth can be bulky, but ohmigosh the performance is amazing. And I agree that folding diapers is my guilty little pleasure... i.e., I can relax and watch this trash tv because I'm OH SO BUSY folding these diapers and saving the planet.

I love cloth! don't find it a pain at all. Of course, you do have to change them more often than sposies. But I have had no diaper rashes, you never run out and have to run to the store, no stinky chemicals... I enjoy stuffing the pockets . I do find AIOs a pain because they take forever and a day to dry.

I agree with PP - I find disposables more of a pain in the butt than cloth (we use prefolds). I can't get a good fit with disposables, and they do seem to leak. Plus the small of disposables is pretty icky.

I think cloth was a hassle only in the VERY beginning when LO was tiny and still had his umbilical stump. After that, it's been a breeze.

I personally don't mind doing laundry, and I think doing an extra load of laundry here and there is easier than going to Target and buying those huge packages of diapers, and taking out the trash all the time.

I don't use pocket diapers, so I don't have to deal with stuffing them.

I agree with everyone who said stuffing pockets is a pain... but now that I gave up on prestuffing them they aren't so bad I like my fitteds and covers best tho...
We use fitteds and diapering is ridiculously easy. So easy that I actually think people who use disposables are a little crazy. In my experience, the cloth is so much more reliable.

I love love love love cloth. DD has never worn a sposie, and I hope she never will. I have no plans to ever use one. We were given a bunch of newborn sposies before she was born, and I passed them on to someone else without touching them. I hate sposies--hate the smell, hate the way they look. They honestly gross me out, and it always makes me feel sick to see them on other kids (I know it's terrible, but I can't help it! They're just icky to me!).

Cloth, on the other hand, is just beautiful. I collect cloth diapers, I swear. Everyone makes fun of me--I've gotten lots of friends to switch to cloth, but they all get one system they like and stick with it. Me, I've tried everything, and I love them all. DH jokes that we're not saving any money by not using sposies because I buy so many new cloth diapers all the time. But really, they're just so awesome! And cute! And fun!

Oh, and did I mention easy? Possibly my favorite moment demonstrating the ease of cloth happened recently when I was at a La Leche League conference. There was a line to use the changing table, since everybody had to change their baby during the break. I took one look at the line, laughed, sat down on the bench, and changed my wiggly toddler in my lap. My snap covers make it easy to fit a diaper perfectly while she's sitting up--or even walking away (I've done it a million times). You just can't do that with a velcro sposie--you can try, but the diaper will probably be hanging off and not tightened right.

And once you get used to washing them, you really don't think twice about it. I love washing diapers--it's the only laundry I ever do.
