Try not to drink 2-7 liters of cola a day

It's not good for you. Surprised aren't you?
This article says high consumption depletes potassium and causes hypokalemia, a muscle problem (which of course can effect the heart).

REALLY?!?!? You mean, I should like, drink, water or juice or milk or something, anything besides just pop 24/7?!?! I never would have guessed!! :boggle:

Seriously though, who the heck thinks that drinking THAT much pop every frigging day could possibly be OK???

Maybe they did that calculation for how much water one should drink in a day (What's that? An ounce per pound of body weight per day?). Then they read all fluid intake counted. And they wanted to be extra healthy and hydrated so they doubled or tripled it. Maybe the pregnant subjects thought they were drinking for two?

I can NOT even IMAGINE consuming that much pop per day! That is just insane! Even my mainstream, pop-loving sister doesn't even drink that much. Wow. So much sugar, calories, caffeine!!!

I saw this and had to say- I don't think I have drank 2-7 liters of soda in the last 4 YEARS.
Realizing that makes me happy.

omg, that pregnant lady drank 7 liters of soda a day for 10 months? How the heck is that even possible!
I'm more upset that people felt the need to do a study about this. I just would have guessed the average person knew that much soda was harmful. Personally I thought it would have been deadly!

Wow! Here's to a little common sense

I can't imagine drinking that much soda. I will admit to a 12-oz can or two, but I can't imagine draining a 2-L bottle of soda OR MORE by myself in one day. And especially if I was pregnant.

I'll drink to that!

Wow - I had a male friend when I was younger who would routinely drink 2 Super Big Gulps a day, and sometimes as many as four. He was, by far, the most over-the-top consumer of pop that I've ever met...but he was extreme. I don't know anybody else who even comes close. I think the Super Big Gulps were 64oz. is that two liters? I think so - so, he was drinking 4 a day, which is a lot. But, everybody else thought it was extreme - everybody, even the other people who drank a lot of pop ("a lot" meaning 2-4 cans a day).

7 liters a day? Every day? I can't even imagine. I'd be sooooo sick.

ETA: I just read the article. It said the patients drank from 2 to 9 liters a day. I feel ill.

My close friend drinks this much diet pepsi every single day.

I hate pop, it's just way to sweet for me.

Yeah, maybe it's where I'm from (the South? Is soda really big there or something?) but until I became an adult, I never knew ONE SINGLE PERSON who drank anything other than soda. Period. Everyone I knew had whatever brand the drank and they would just go to the fridge and get a can of it when they were thirsty. All. Day. Long. Every. Day.

So I figured it was totally normal when I married my husband and he drank nothing but Dr. Pepper. EVER.

So glad we took up a natural lifestyle years ago and put a stop to that. How gross! :

Oh I love fizzy drinks! I have drank 2 litres of pop a day before, it was easy...you just reach for it whenever you get thirsty, just like you would with water -if you're healthy that way!

I bet I could easily drink 4 litres a day, and enjoy every sip!! but not more than that.

Some people just really love fizzy drinks, like other people might really love chocolate or candy, or their coffee caffeine kicks.

I never drank that much pop but occasionally I do get a craving for something fizzy. Now I am happy with some carbonated mineral water with slices of lemon and lime in it - anything sweeter makes my teeth ache!

The two patients were pregnant women too - very sad that anyone would consume that much soda, especially pregnant women.

i could drink that much (well maybe not that much, but i know ive finished a 2L on my own before).... and thats why i dont buy it. i drink water all day long, but if there is a 2liter bottle or a 12 pack in the house, i tend to reach for that first. i dont know why though
