Birth Plans?

Does anyone know their birth plans yet?

My son was an emergency c-section (I suffered PTSD from it) : and my daughter was a water birth at home.

We are planning another water home birth. I dream of going unassisted but I don't think my husband would go for it. My midwives let me deliver my daughter while one took pictures and the other video taped so that was wonderful!!

Homebirth here! My second was a waterbirth, so this one might be, too...just depends on how I feel at the moment. I'll be getting a La Bassine this time instead of doing it in the jacuzzi tub, though...I had bruises all over my arms and knees from it being so hard! I'm new to the Central San Joaquin Valley, so I have to find a midwife here. I like having a midwife there, but hands-off unless there's a problem or I'm stuck in a rut and need a little suggestion (like changing positions, etc.).

I had a c-section with my last one too. Although I had lay midwife care throughout my pregnancy, I was induced at 37 wks because of pre-e and while I dilated to 10 cm, I never got the urge to push and after pushing for an hour as hard as I could, I just threw in the towel. I had nothing left in me (well, except the baby). I never made any progress pushing.

Today I emailed the same midwife I had last time, and she said she would love to take me on as a client again. So, God willing, I will end up with a HBAC. I <3 my midwife. She's been practicing since the '70s, so she is really experienced. I'll probably have a birth tub, but I won't know if I'll use it until it's time, ya know?

So brave!

All of you women who have had a HBAC my hat is off to you!: I had a uneventful 6 hour birth with my son with a midwife at her birth center in her home. I would like a homebirth this time but I am a little afraid. I can't imagine even entertaining the thought of a HBAC especially if the c-section was traumatic! How did you have so much faith that everything would be ok for you and the baby? (I need some reassuring that I can do a home birth.)

I *think* we are going for UC here. I had a homebirth with my first and my second ended up being unassisted because he came SOOOO fast (less than 45 min, 5 contractions). So.....I'm counting on this one coming fast too!

My story is long but I know that if I hadn't been in a hospital my son would have been born vaginally. I was bullied and told everything possible to scare a first time mom. The thought of going into a hospital to have another baby scares me to death. I of course would go if it was truly medically necessary. There is a group of midwives that allow VBACs in the hospital and I did interview with them. This helped get my husband on board with homebirth, he always supported my VBAC. They still had too many restrictions (monitoring, etc) that I wasn't comfortable with. I had to have confidence and trust in my body. If I had ended up with a repeat c-section then that baby would have been my last. I can not go through that again. My labor with my daughter was 51 hours long and most of that was because I had to get over all of my issues with my previous birth. I tried to work it out before I got pregnant but I guess I didn't get it all done. So that is the short version. I spent almost 3 years researching and reading everything I could on VBACs before my daughter was born.

i have had two intervention-free births at a hospital. I really want a homebirth this time, and think i feel confident enough to do it (i just wasn't emotionally ready, i guess last time)
dh is mostly on board, so we need to interview a m/w soon and hopefully she will convince him the rest of the way

Homebirth/Waterbirth here DH took some super convincing when DS2 was concieved (I wanted to UC and he wanted the hospital so we compromised and I ended up loving my midwife and her support during birth) but this time he's hoping to do the catching if at all possible... If my birth progress as fast or faster than it did last time the M/W might not even make it in time anyways LOL

I just had a home/water birth in january and I am hoping to do the same. If I can't get insurance to cover anything we may be going uc with a doula. I am still in shock from the positive test though. my husband teases and says we are going with a regular dr to the hospital this time.

Definitely a homebirth. Maybe an unassisted birth. Still on the fence about that.

I'm birth crazed. My birth shave been a real journey. Part ofthe reason we decided tohave a 4th is because My husband feels he's "messed up" my other births. Not true..it's ajournay for him too. He is not into homebirth and I'm not set enough on homebirth to make it a war. Our compromise has been the birthing cener w/in our hospital..it is really wonderful and very independent. However, each birth we've had problems getting in because our insurance was having contract probs w/the hospital. My point here is that I want to start thinking about it but not obsessing. This will be our last and I have to let it be w/o over doing the plannning. We 're definately going to the birthing center so I think we're good.

This is a little up in the air, though Garrin and I have talked about it A LOT. Gideon's birth was at home. It was a wonderful, perfect, beautiful experience if you take out the one big thing - he died. The same thing would have happened at the hospital - there's nothing that could have been done. I'm glad I had that time with him and had that birth experience. I am totally on board to do it again, with our same wonderful midwives. However, Garrin is uncomfortable with our distance from the hospital in case something happens to the baby or me. This is his kid, too, and it's not all about me, so I am trying to find a middle ground with him that we can both be happy with. He is fine (actually prefers) out of hospital, just wants to be closer, in case. We may use a local birthing center, but it would be without our midwives, whom we adore. We have considered renting an apartment for a couple months closer to our favored hospital and birthing there. We'll see, I guess. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hospital birth with high risk OB. There isn't a LMW that would touch me with a ten foot pole.

I have a blood clotting disorder that requires me inject blood thinners....and if I go into labor before it's out of my system I could bleed out.

This is a case where I can see a hospital being a GOOD thing. I hope you have no issues with bleeding out none the less!

I'm interviewing OBs. I don't want an IV, but I don't mind having a cath in my arm ready to go in case I need an IV....and they can still give me meds that way if necessary...even without a bag. I hate having my movement restricted. So hopefully I can find an OB that will allow me unrestricted movement. I hate having to push an IV stand around. I had back labor and sunnyside up babies both times so far.

Ya, not being attached to an IV bag would be nice. I was GBS+ with my first so I had to have an IV. I was not stuck in bed by any means. At one point my mom's foot got caught on the line and she tripped, ripping the cath out of my hand. It's bad enough in labor to have that annoying pain in your hand, but to have to have it reinserted was awful! I am hoping to use hibiclens or other treatments for GBS if I test positive again, so I can avoid abx.
