AO HSers- what does your day look like?

Just wondering how AO families work out the schedule daily and even weekly. I am still a little lost on what to so with the schedule.

I'm assuming you mean Ambleside Online (and not Alpha Omega ?).

We are doing Year 1 for ds (2nd grade).

Daily (in this order):
  • 1-3 math workbook pages (we use a basic cheap 2nd grade book ds likes. For 3fd grade, though, he has his heart set on Teaching Textbooks 3).
  • 1-3 phonics workbook pages (Spectrum, cheap, easy, and fun. Ds picked it)
  • Reading 1 poem (A.A. Milne is scheduled)
  • Copywork (usually just the title or 1st line of the day's poem. He does this in his best handwriting)
  • 2 or 3 of the scheduled AO readings
With the history readings we add a picture and caption to our wall timeline. Ds narrates back all of the readings - sometimes he draws a picture or makes puppets for the narration.

Weekly:
  • Artist Study (Friedrich)
  • Composer Study (Lizst)
  • Outdoor Nature Study (we like the Green Hour challenges from handbookofnaturestudy.com)
  • Spanish (ds likes Live Mocha)
  • Science (McQuerry's Elementary Life Science. Free and fun)
We really make these fun. Lots of artwork, crafts, experiments, etc. I tried doing 1 day just for all these "extras", but ds preferred doing one or 2 of them after his daily stuff. The AO website gives guidelines and tips on keeping these very CM.

The day's seatwork is done in 1 1/2 hours. Afternoons are for trips, playground, homeschool group get-togethers and classes, and friends. We also usually take 1 day off each week if we're not in the mood, lol.

Thanks for responding! Your day looks great. I think I can wrap my head around that.

I had no idea there was another AO than Ambleside Online
