Yes, I'm fine.
Two nights ago I had a massive, sudden attack of carpel tunnel. It hurt so bad I was up all night, totally miserable. Then yesterday it hurt some more. I was like, DYING. It felt like a burning ache that just would not go away. Dialing the phone hurt. Holding my purse hurt. I also noticed I was pretty swollen in my arms and hands, and when I weighed myself, I had gained 6 lbs in 4 days or so, pretty unusual for someone who gains a pound a week if that.
Kaiser was like, 'you're fine come in on Monday' (I seriously cried when she told me that) and while I agree that I probably was fine, there was no way I was going to suffer with that pain until Monday! I finally was like "look, I can either come to the ER or you can see me in L and D triage" and she finally said the ER would send me to L and D anyway.
I came in and had to do all the stupid stuff they don't need to do, such as monitor the baby for 20 minutes straight (she kept kicking off the monitor, I told them she was fine and active!). My BP was 130/70-something which is moderately elevated for me but it went down to like 115 later so obviously no pre-e.
Although I will say that Kaiser is nicer than the one I used to go to, I couldn't help but think to myself how glad I was that I will not be delivering there. The nurses all looked at me like I had eight heads when I said I am having a homebirth. They all go "Kaiser has midwives too!" (HAHAHAHAHAHA, yes, midwives that act exactly like OBs....).
Anyway, it took forever but the doctor was like "it's carpel tunnel and it's probably going to get worse, it's swelling from the heat" (uh, no. I stay in my AC'd house thankyouverymuch), ect. She gave me some painkillers and sent me on my way. She also suggested the wrist braces which I had planned on buying. I've been wearing them since yesterday and the swelling is gone and the pain is almost gone too. Hallelujah!
