HATE things around my waist/hips

Has anyone tried a Kokopax carrier?

I have a Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch, a Sachi, an Ergo, and an Eden on hand already. I am ordering a Slingling pouch after my u/s on July 8. But I saw the Kokopax and IMO it looks sooooo comfortable. I really, really, very sincerely HATE having things tied, buckled, whatnothaveyou around my waist/hips. Just drives me up a wall and seriously inhibits my babywearing love. But my babies get too heavy for one-shouldered carriers pretty fast. When I looked at the pics of the Kokopax my first thought was "MG - THAT is what I have been LOOKING for", although I'm not thrilled with the limited fabric selection. Any advice or opinions??

Do you do hip carries in the ring sling? I've found that that's a great way to distribute weight to the hips without having anything fastened around your hips. I can still carry my 21-pound DD very comfortably in the ring sling using a hip carry.

I do hip carries as long as they remain comfortable, but I am only 5'2" and my last two babies have been huge, my youngest hit 30 pounds before his first birthday. I really need both shoulders to um...shoulder the weight, lol.

Try a pod! I love a high back carry tied tibetan. No waist tie. Babe can see over your shoulder; I like the weight higher on my back, and nothing around my waist/hips.

Oh, goodness! You do need something more heavy duty then. I hope you get some answers -- I've recently started using a Beco a lot and really like it, but it has a waist strap, so it sounds like that wouldn't work for you.

What's a pod? Is that short for Podegi?

Sleepyheaded Mama - if you decide to sell your Ergo, can you PM me! Thanks!

i couldn't tell from the pictures but i would be astounded if a frame pack didn't have a waist belt, and if it doesn't i can't imagine it being comfy as all that weight will hang straight from your shoulders.

i agree a podaegi would be good option for you. or an onbuhimo.i also think you should think about a woven wrap. there are a million ways to tie those that don't involve tying around the waist. you may also want to think about a chunei - though i don't know how you'd feel about it wrapping around your torso? but it doesn't really go around your waist. it's my favorite carrier, can't believe how weightless my 22 lb LO feels in it, no pressure on my shoulders at all

yep - I love my pods (podegis). I used them a ton last summer with my 18mo+ old - a nice high back carry where she could see and I could chat with her, and no chest belt to bother me in our summer "heat"!

It's certainly very cute for a frame backpack.
But the frames scare me a bit for day-to-day errands. perhaps for hikes.
