Okay, so I thought we did well by getting some free mushroom compost (which may not have been fully composted) to use in our square foot garden raised beds along with peat moss and verticulite/perlite. I planted our seedlings about 1-2 weeks ago and watered well until a few days ago when we were expecting rain. I did cover some areas with plastic covered cages to protect the tender seedlings from heavy rain and wind.
But today I checked the garden and there are large white spots in the soil around several of the plants, including my tomato and okra plants, but mainly where the plastic covers were used. I'll try to post pics later. I need to know what it is and how I can correct the damage. This is my first year with an expanded garden, and we made quite an investment of time, energy and resources already while being hopeful that we would actually be able to see the fruit of our labor.
I really need your help or DH may be majorly turned off from gardening for a long while.
