My DD is 2 months old. We're selectively vaxing, meaning we're doing the DTaP and nothing else unless something in our situation changes, for example, polio coming back to the US. Really, we want to vax against Pertussis now and Tetanus later, but it all comes in one shot, so we're doing it. Anyway, DD is also an EC baby and has never had a diaper rash in her life. Sure, it's only been 2 months, but it counts for something. So, she got the DTaP yesterday, and she had 2 little wet farts last night in a row. Both were caught while still fresh. Since then, she has had a raw and painful looking rash between her bum cheeks around her anus. I examined her yesterday before the appointment, and it was not there.
She has wet farts often, but they've never caused a rash before. The rash isn't anywhere else on her body. I haven't made any changes to my diet other than adding a probiotics pill. The rash has been responding well (though not quickly enough) to the breast milk and air it out treatment, and we have had very few toilet misses, or at least very few that have been attached to her bum. The bathroom floor is a different matter.
Does this sound like it could be the vaccine? If it is, how does injecting it into her muscle affect her poop? Also, if it is the vaccine, does anybody have any guesses as to which portion of the vaccine did it? If it isn't the vaccine, I would guess it's some other allergy. I was allergic to strawberries in my mom's milk, but I've been eating strawberries every day for weeks with no problem.
