Make your own muslin swaddling blanket?

I really love the look of the aden + anais muslin baby blankets, but at $10 a piece, I'm wondering if I could make my own?

From what I can tell from the pics on their website, the material looks like an open-weave, guazey type of muslin. Does anyone know where to find fabric like that? I saw some at the Dharma Trading Co., but didn't know which kind would best match the a + a blankets. Anyone???

We normally use muslin (cheesecloth) over here- it's often used for dressmaking tuiles and designing patterns, so the chances are that your local fabric store will have a bolt somewhere around.

I don't have any suggestions for making the blankets, but just wanted to mention that last time I was at Target, I saw they now have four packs of the A+A blankets for $29.95...still kind of pricey, but better than $40.

Wow, I didn't realize Target sold them. I thought I checked a while back... must be new! Thanks, maybe I'll just buy a pack.

we found a great sleep sack in muslin called the Peke Moe, it worked well for our baby in the summer months and transitioned him from swaddling. all the best
