cloth diapers and car seat

I am planning on cloth diapering and recently purchased a Britax Marathon car seat based on the awesome reviews. However, I just read one that said it didn't work well with cloth diapers because of the added bulk. I read another that said no problem with cloth diapers. So I ask you - any experience with this seat and using cloth diapers? I plan on using the Bumgenius 3.0 diapers.

Goodness! I have never heard that. I have used the Britax Marathon with two kids for years and am now on the third and have never had a problem and my kids wear fitteds or prefolds with wool soakers. It's their butts with a tad bit more bulk so it doesn't compromise the fit of the straps at all.

dd was fine in hers with her cloth on.

This comes up all the time, and I've never heard of anyone having a problem. And I've used prefolds and wool... much bulkier than something like a BG.

I have two Marathons and have used many different types of cloth diapers and have never once had an issue.

NAK

i have never had a problem either.

i will say that your NB is going to be swimming in the BG and marathon. I'm not a fan of the BGs but many mamas love them, but they are a lot of diaper imo

DD fits into the marathon just fine with a big ol bulky prefold.

We have a Marathon and it does fine with cd's.

It is a great car seat and even my daughter's naturally big booty fits fine in her cloth diapers.

: A marathon is pretty bad for newborns, and I have 10 lb newborns. There is just too much space for them to flop around to be safe and the straps are not really right. The 1 size bg won't really fit until around 2 or 3 months.
Prefolds and wraps are great for newborns and a cheap starting option.

Glad to hear that cloth diapers and the car seat aren't a problem! I've also heard about the size problems with the marathon and the bgs before. I am getting a newborn insert for the marathon that should help and if not I have a backup plan. For the diapers, I was planning on getting some newborn natural care disposables until he/she can fit into the cloths.

You may want to get some Kissaloves and a couple covers, I'm almost sure that it would be cheaper then the sposies. I only used 1 pack of sposies (the one the hospital sends you home with) But aren't they like $10 a package? I went through the pack in about a week, figure you need 8 weeks of diapers thats $80 I would rather get $80 of CDs.

My figures are totally ball parks, but especially if you want natural disposables dipes, I'm sure they are $$$

Keep your eyes out on the Trading post and other diaper sites, I'm sure you can score some cute dipes for cheaper then sposie before you LO is due.

i know ppl that use bgs from the start, lots of ppl. dont buy too many sposies, ya never know. a little bulk as a nb isnt gonna hurt anything!!

gl!

oh and i have a marathon and stuff the crap out of my pockets and covers, toddler sized pfs, hemp, bamboo, extra mf iinserts, you name it its been stuffed and stuffed and stuffed into our marathon with no issues - i have a super duper soaker. dd currently is 3' tall, 35lbs, still wearing cloth and still happily comfy in her marathon

I've never had an issue with even super bulky nightitme diapers.

I have not had any problems with it with either of my kids

I've never had any problems with the marathon and used one for both of my kids with cloth diapers. I didn't use the marathon until they were 5 months old though.

I've had two kids through my Marathon and two in a Roundabout. No problem. Only "problem" might run into is the velcro piece on the straps to hold them open while getting kiddo in? Can catch on woolies. Pulling stuff off those velcro dealies is like a big hairball. But really, that's not too big of a deal.
