Just curious. What do you buy at the dollar (or ninety nine cent) store? Do you shop there often?

The only things I buy are packing tape and laundry degergent, which are actually more then a dollar.

Toilet paper - they have some made from 100% recylcled paper and it is soft and $1 for 4 rolls. I stock up. I also buy some cleaning supplies. Not much else though.

In TX there was a "99 Only Store" that had tons of grocieries and organics. I went every week or two and actually did the bulk of my grocery shopping there. We moved to another state and that chain isn't here.

hand soap
toothpaste
cards
wrapping paper
paper stuff for birthdays
shaving cream

And I found the best ever pizza slicer in there. The above is what I get every time.

When we were TTC, pregnancy tests! Especially if you're an obsessive tester, better to pay just $1 per test than much more at the pharmacy.

Wrapping paper, gift bags, some school supply type things, snack foods, occasionally produce and canned goods.

I am a speech pathologist and I get a lot of stuff for work there - books, puzzles, little toys for manipulatives, art supplies, mylar balloons, gift wrap, holiday themed stuff.

Things like sandwich bags, plastic totes, batteries, kids sunglasses, beach toys, some kitchen stuff, birthday bags and papers, stickers and other random stuff I use in the classroom... I buy a lot there actually. Anything I see that is normally more at a regular store, I buy.

Canned dog food. Until just recently, their price was 3 cans for 99 cents. They've raised it to $0.40 per can now, but it's still the best deal in town even at that price.

99 cents store

We have a 99 cents store and they have a ton of stuff. I have found toys that where $20 or more down to 99 cents. They often have good brand name food nearing the expiration. Sometimes I find organic and they have lots of fresh fruit and veggies. You could almost do all your grocery shopping there. I buy books, movies, school supplies, manipulitives for the toddlers, and more.

The Dollar Store (or Dollar Tree) is not nearly as good. I do not find near as much here. Sometimes school supplies, party supplies, and such. Rarely food.

totally and OPKs too. I stocked up in both when were TTC this time, the dollar store tests are some of the most accurate.

I also get DD juice boxes, sometimes soy milk and all my B-day party supplies, shaving cream(unless I can get it for free which happens often with coupons), toothbrushes, cards-if I need one, candles, gift basket stuff, dish towels, sometimes good quality makeup, nail files, hand soap, The Works cleaner-gross but it gets rust out of my toilet.

Ours is a Dollar Tree and I find sometimes it is great and others just so-so.

At the Dollar store where everything is actually $1 I buy:
party supplies
stationary
stories on CD (lots of classics and Bible stories
occasional groceries
occasional small household items (kitchen ware, drain plugs, etc).

I don't go often. Only if I need something and I know I will find it there. Maybe 2-3 times a year.

As others have said, wrapping paper, outdoor toys, paper goods.

I go every Sunday AM for the newspaper -- our local Sunday paper is $2.25 elsewhere but only $1 at the $1 store!

Cleaning products
Wall stickers (decorative...don't leave marks/take off paint)
Some kitchen stuff
Some office supplies
Pregnancy tests
Picture frames
Greeting cards
And we ALWAYS have to buy a washcloth...cuz they are the kind that are in little shapes that "grow" in water...I figure, it costs a dollar, and it entertains Alivia. We have a collection of those!
