Up!

We saw this with all three kids yesterday, and loved it! We didn't get to catch it in 3D, but the Pixar animation was breathtaking nonetheless. The story was touching, original, and funny. It got intense at times--characters had a shotgun fired at them, and there are some very tense moments, but our 4.5 year old was fine.

We hope to catch this again in 3D!

Anyone else see UP this weekend?

DP and I did, and loved it... It had a different feel to it, a bit too sad in the beginning.

We also loved the little cartoon about the stork and the clouds that came before it.

We're going to see it tomorrow! It sounds good!

Anyone not like it? My dh, 11 yo dd and I went to see it the other day. We all came out of it thinking Meh, we should have gone to see Star Trek again instead.

I can't tell if we are just getting past the child-oriented animation time in our lives, or if it was the story. In any case, I didn't really like it.

Just a note for some who may be physically sensitive-- the 3D gave me a headache. And trying to watch it without the 3D glasses on gave me a headache, too (because then the images were blurry.)

I enjoyed it a lot. Also didn't see the 3D version, but still it was nice. But yes, sad in some parts.

I also liked the cloud cartoon before it. So cute!

I've only ever watched one 3D movie in my life. It was an IMAX thing about whales. It was a total head trip, because I don't see in 3D, but I did see 3D at the movie. I didn't get a headache, but my head felt...weird, afterwards, and I was really tired. I think I was using parts of my brain I don't usually use. I did have to take the glasses off a couple times, because it was just too intense for me.

I want to watch another one, though. It was awesome to be able to see in a way I'd never been able to before.

I loved UP!!! We saw it in 3D and I was very surprised at how good it was. I've never seen a whole movie in 3D and I really expected things to be flying out at the audience, but really, it was just like you were IN the scene. There was just more depth. Nothing close enough to "touch". It was great!!!!

I cried about 3 different times. I just LOVE old people in movies, especially paired with kids. And I was so happy that they did such a long back story on his life! So great!!!!

We both left feeling like they really catered to adults with this one. I can't wait to buy it on dvd. I hope they offer it in 3D with glasses (although we kept the move theater ones, so maybe they'll work?)

I took my 8-year-old, whose name is Russell, to see it. We enjoyed it. I must add it was a big plus about the name Russell because ds enjoyed that about it a great deal. I loved the first half, and felt that the story became a bit mundane after that, but it is a minor quibble, since these days it is such a relief to see a movie with ds that is crashing with explosions and so on. Also, ds found the dogs speaking very amusing.

We saw it last weekend, too, in 3D! I cried so much at parts of it, it was embarrassing. Good thing it was dark in the theater. DH and I were impressed with how far 3D has come; it was really well done. DS, who is three, got a bit freaked out by some of the effects, so he watched most of the movie without the glasses and didn't seem to mind. Having that much depth perception startled him. DD, who is almost five, was riveted by the whole thing, though, and liked wearing the glasses. DH and I were really glad we took them to see it.

We saw a preview for "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," too, which looks interesting.

So we it be okay for a 2 year old? We are hoping to make it his first movie. He sits through all the other pixars, but at home.

I heard it was amazing. I am prepared for the begining, will bring my tissues.

DH and I loved it. We've been quoting Dug all night (by far my favorite character!) and giggling like mad.

I did NOT like that it showed blood in the movie, twice. I think they could have left that out and been just fine. But that was my only peeve.

I have seen the preview trailer of Up for the past few months, it looked like a cute film and since everyone who saw it seems to really like it and even the critics seems to fall all over it, I'm planning it over next weekend...

Thanks for the warning on the shotgun and the blood----DS doesn't do well with movies in general, and guns and blood would really freak him out. Maybe DH and I will have to go see it----as soon as we find a babysitter!!

I took my 3 year old to see it. I couldn't get past the first depressing scene in the beginning with the doctor. Dd sat through it no problem, she isn't easily bothered by scary bits. One kid in the theatre freaked out during a bit with Kevin. He screamed "Kevin...noooo, kevin!!!" for ages. The theatre was packed with kids and only that one seemed to have issue with it.

It was an okay movie, found it a little bland and depressing but whatever floats your boat!

Okay, you totally expressed my opinion better than I could. A little bland is definitely how I would have described it. Not terrible. I'm not pissed that I spent money to go see it. It was just kind of "meh" for me.
