anyone ever do this?

okay ladies, Im curious for personal reasons if you have ever done or considered going bare down under by means of electrolosis? thats the word right for permanant hair removal?
If so, was it uncomfortable( the procedure) and did it take multiple visits?
also, any problems one might want to know about before trying this?
Laura
ps:thanks in advance for your candidness

never considered it. the only ppl i know that are 'bare down there' are children. if someone wanted me to do that, i would have some serious questions to ask.
just my thoughts

I just prefer it sometimes, as "lube" hasn't been so free-flowing for me in a LONG time, and it helps to have things out of the way that "trimming" takes care of.

I'd REALLY be interested in getting it done depending on the pain factor, and of course the cost of the stuff.

I get rid of my hair down there but not via electrolosis. That just sounds scary to me! LOL How about a wax? It takes awhile to start growing back.....

I mess with shaving cause I am too chicken to go get waxed! LOL But I prefer being "bare" down there!

I'm a chicken to get waxed too. I can barely open my eyes when and if I get the guts to get my eyebrows done once in a while whenever I need it.

I'd rather not have to do anything for any of it though lol.

OUCH!!! Waxing hurts...trust me...I've done it. I also prefer being bare "down there" not b/c anyone has asked me to...I just like it better. I'd also be interested in finding out about electrolysis as shaving and snipping is getting way old. :LOL

You'd want the laser hair removal if you were gonna do it. Electrolisis is done by zapping the folicle one at a time & would take FOREVER & isn't to o darn effective (about 1/2 the hairs are "killed") Either one takes multiple visits. A girl I worked with had her upper lip done with laser & it took 6 times, so if you're talking taking all your pubic hair off, I'd guess a lot more. It was about $400 for her lip. Some people have burns, so I'd look into the side effects. The girl I know liked it & it worked beautifully on her lip. Good luck with that :LOL

YIKES! I had my upper lip electrolysis-ed :LOL as a teen. It took about a year going every few weeks. Plus, some of the hairs came back and I still have to get it waxed. Let me tell you, it was excruciating. There is simply no way that I'd consider getting electrolysis on my pubes. OMG! Maybe under general anesthesia! :LOL If you're really serious about getting it removed permanently, look into laser. It would still probably hurt, but not quite as bad. I bet it would be less expensive and require less overall time. I've had bikini waxes. Just the line, not too far in, and I didn't really think it hurt much. As laser removal becomes more and more popular, it's probably getting difficult to find people who do electrolysis.

Mamaintheboonies,

I used to feel very much like you. I knew a few women who went bare or who had "landing strips" but they were pretty wild gals. (mostly strippers lol)

Then I tried it for myself. I've waxed, shaved, tweezed stary hairs now and then. I'm not totally bare, but do have a "landing strip."

It feels cleaner, especially while on my period.

Also the smoothness lends to intimacy in some pretty fun ways. As a poster above mentioned, personal "lube" ebbs and flows. I've found that being bare, really helps with this.

I don't know that I could ever go in and have stuff done- but I don't mind doing my own "gardening."

I've never had electrolysis (sp?) either but I'm interested in the thread. I have, er, a jungle down there and I really like the intimate results of being more bare. plus, it's really necessary for me to have it cleaned up just to wear a swimsuit. I can't shave because I get ingrown hairs so bad -- it ends up irritated and red for weeks. I have done a few home waxes (not the whole thing, but most of it) and like the results much better. I used to use Nair. that stuff is pretty nasty, but it worked well for me. I am planning to go to a salon to get a brazilian wax soon. I have a few friends that have been doing this regularly and LOVE it. THe laser option sounds interesting too.

My friend had laser hair removal on some hair in the general vicinity. (She had the "edges" removed to just under a bikini bottom type area) She had some pain medication; I am not sure of the type but I think it was all topical.

She has had it done 3x thus far and says she is amazed with the results. She said the pain is really intense at the end but bearable. During the recovery time she said it helped to wear pj pants with no underwear and she wasn't really keen on touching in the general area for several days. She also states she has a really low pain tolerance, and I can attest to that having helped her pluck her eyebrows!

We are long distance so I have not yet viewed the results in the flesh. She said that her laser removal specialist will not remove hair further in because she is personally worried about damage. I am curious and if it works out well I will be signing up!

Oh yeah-- I forgot to say--

For shaving- use a brand new razor each time. Daisy twin blades work very well!

I used to get red bumps or ingrown hairs but have started using a product called "Coochy" to shave and it is amazing! You can buy it online or at most "adult" stores. It's soft, creamy and leaves your skin soft and smooth. It is great for legs and underarms too.

And best of all, no bumps, no rash, no ingrown hairs!

YAY!!

I'm going to have to try to find that! I get horrible ingrown hairs and bumps down there but i really like the bare (or at least almost bare) look down there.

I buy my cream from www.pureromance.com It is a bit pricey but well worth it!

A little of it goes a long, long way too. I use it 2-3 times a week and have had my most recent bottle since June.

I have no problem with trimming, but going bare seems strange to me. Something about it bothers me...just my own issues, I suppose.
I was raised believing that there is hair down there for a reason. Not only to distinguish between a girl and a woman, but also, the hair provides protection.

I understand.

I couldn't be totally bare either- too girlish looking for *my* tastes.

I do have a harder time with the creator made it for a reason idea. Only because every day we do things that alter our bodies from the way they were made. We shave our legs (some of us lol), men shave their faces, we tweeze eyebrows, mole hairs, cut our hair, wear makeup, color our hair, wear perfume, deoderant, piercings, tattoos.

Many of us do things to alter our bodies so that we feel better being in our skin.

I think the really cool thing is that we all can do what we choose! Our bodies can be a canvass that we can leave as is or add to. *That* is really awesome to me!

I am so so sorry. I did not mean to bring religious ideas into this, I was just writing about where my thinking about it came from.
Like I stated earlier, it is my issues with it that get in the way of me seeing it as cool, or interesting. I'll leave this thread, as I don't feel I have anything more to contribute to it.
Again, sorry.

Mama-

I hope you did not think I was belittling your religious beliefs at all! That was not my intent.

I was just stating that *I* have a harder time with this idea than some. Most likely due to my own beliefs/lack of beliefs/confusion about my own beliefs.

I hope you weren't upset and altered your post due to my comment. I was NOT offended by your views at all!

I love that we can discuss different topics no matter where we are in our own personal journeys.

I agree, but I still had to :
I love the way you phrased it.
