Yesterday, for the first time EVER, I completed a meal plan for the ENTIRE month. This is an enormous achievement for me, as I constantly struggle to even turn out a weekly plan. Hit the grocery store after completing the meal pland and shopping list, and believe we will be set for the next 2 weeks (trying to get back into the bi-weekly habit).

Kim :

We did go price box springs though. We sleep with two twin beds pushed together (with king sized sheets and a blanket you would never actually know from looking at it ) but one sides box springs are damaged and have been forever now. And the springs poked a ton of holes in the actual mattress itself. I have been making do for so long now but after two years I have accepted that it must be replaced. We looked at Goodwill but they only sell them as a set- and aside from the holes, the mattress itself is fine. We found a place that has one for $89. Ugh. I hate to spend that much. I have a mental block against getting it used because of my old job I have this enormous fear of bed bugs. I just don't know what to do at this point. I am letting DH decide. I mean, yes, we have the $100, but it seems like something that isn't needed. But then again I don't really enjoy snuggling in a bed where half of it is way lower than the other Ugh! But my birthday is this month so we can just take that money from what my dinner out and gift would have cost, although we would never have dropped that much on my birthday, maybe half of it.
My Key:
= no spend day- does not count budgeted items like bills for rent, water, etc.
: = exercised for at least a half an hour[/QUOTE]

Wow that is crazy expensive for a ticket!!

granola_mom- that sucks about the wild creatures we live in the middle of the desert about 2 hours from town and it's awesome!! the only pest i've had is aphids and they only like the kale. is there anyway to put them in something like a cold frame until they get bigger? like, build them a little shelter from that plastic and some small pieces of wood?

smithie- huge bummer about the ticket! can you call and see how much your insurance will go up? is there anyway to take a class and have it not go on your record? i've never had a ticket but my mate did and our insurance didn't go up at all. i'd check before getting a lawyer. OH!! and i had a high-school teacher tell me this one: contest the ticket. and the police schedule is a matter of public record so pick a day your officer is NOT working, chances are they won't bother coming to court on their day off. it's worth a try and you don't need a lawyer for it.

I don't think I'm going to meet my goal of 20 no spend days since I've already spent $ every day this month . Since this is my first month on the no-spend challenge I think I'm going to change my no spend day goal to 15 days. Hopefully I can reach that goal! Today I did all my grocery shopping for the week so maybe I'll rack up some no spend days this week. My main problem is that I make multiple trips to the store a week. Meal planning and making grocery lists would help with that, I'm sure .

June
06/01: 47.55 bulk laundry soap and litter (household), 100.19 groceries, 15.00 takeout tacos (dining out)
06/02: 48.35 groceries, 29.81 vitamins (household)
06/03: 3.50 knitting pattern
06/04: 4.00 treats (budgeted)
06/05: 10.00 wine (grocery budget)
06/06: 30.00 gas for DH
06/07: 33.00 gas for me, 66.00 groceries, 3.00 sandpaper (household), 1.00 batteries non-budgeted: 1.00 balloon, .59 candy bar

Budget for June:
224.54/$400 Groceries
81.36/$120 Household/Personal care
66/$80 Gas
19/$50 Eating out/treats
100/$100 general savings

No spend days goal: 0/15

Have been in nutty organizational mode; passing along and tossing left and right. Have one week before starting a PT WOH gig, and want to simplify and organize the heck out of the homefront to ease transition. Thankfully the kids are onboard, and enjoying the projects (and of course, the rediscovery of long lost toys).

June 5th : $5.78 at Taco Bell

We did a balance transfer today to consolodate all three credit cards to one. I think that will help in the long run.

I hope that everyone is doing well

I tried that too, but all I could afford was to use plastic sheeting and PVC pipes for the frame. Then I weighed down the sides of the plastic using bricks. They still get in, though I think it's the raccoons... they are strong! Last week they pushed down our huge green bin and scattered food around our yard : So I'm just going to give up on growing veggies. Luckily we still have our community garden plot and there's no critters around there.

Well, I should be racking up some serious no-spend days this week, as I am stranded out here in the sticks with no vehicle, until DH buys the part needed to fix the rear brakes! Fortunately, I bought groceries earlier than I needed to, so we are still just fine on food.

I'm glad I've been tracking baby expenses separately, because holy crap, I forgot how expensive disposable diapers, wipes, and breast pads are! : I finally busted out the cloth diapers and wipes last week, but I need to sew myself some cloth breast pads this week too, since the cost of those adds up pretty darn fast, at the rate I'm currently using them.
