Hi! This is my first time joining, and it's with some trepidation . I'm great at making a budget...it's the keeping it that's the hard thing. I hope this group can help keep me accountable .

a. Who you are
I'm Emilie. I'm a SAHM to my 2 1/2 year old DS and my 10 week old DD.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals)
The big goals are to pay off our debt ($1100 medical bills, $2300 car loan, and big big student loan) and start saving for a house down payment.

We have a $1000 emergency fund already, so that makes me feel good.

I'd like to end the month with $ leftover in our checking acct instead of our balance at zero.

c. How you plan to get there

Stick to my budget! Stop making little unecessary purchases on things like coffee, snacks and eating out 'cause even though we don't do it often they still add up. Go with a cash budget for food, household items and gas. I think I'm going to allocated a small amount of cash for eating out so we can keep track of that easier instead of just whipping out the debit card. Meal plan so we won't even have to get takeout for dinner. Make grocery lists and stick to them.
June
06/01: 47.55 bulk laundry soap and litter (household), 100.19 groceries, 15.00 takeout tacos (dining out)
06/02: 48.35 groceries, 29.81 vitamins (household)

Budget for June:
148.54/$400 Groceries
77.36/$120 Household/Personal care
0/$80 Gas
15/$50 Eating out/treats
100/$100 general savings

No spend days goal: 0/20

RoadRunner $49.99
Student Loan $50.00
Entertainment $34.25
Eating Out $4.50

Savings $0/$500

This is my goal for June, too. I'm starting here with the hopes of becoming a no-spender sometime. I anticipate spending will go down in the second half of June with the birth of our third child.

I need to grocery shop for a couple things soon, but salvaged some chicken from the fridge for dinner tonight along with farmers market potatoes, and greens from our garden at moms house!

I have to send a check for toll fees but will put that on tomorrows, and that is planned spending.

a. Who you are- i'm carrie. here to be accountable for my spending. i don't spend my money on fun stuff, it's always healthy things for my family, good food, dental items for the kids, thrift store finds, and they just add up.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals)
- i'm hoping to get a pt job this month and start hitting the savings hard for possible starting school next year. we're going to buy a house within the next few years and i really want to get a larger emergency fund set up.

c. How you plan to get there
- i will be frugal for everything this month, no "must-have" unless it really is a must-have. i will NOT let a really good deal take money from me!!!!!

Unexpected Expenses???

DH just told me this morning that he thinks he needs four new tires on his truck :

This is obviously not in the budget this month. The good news is that he doesn't need them rightnow, and I'm thinking we can make it to July without buying tires, but we will need to buy them eventually. There is a chance one of the tires will blow this month, he does have a spare, but then we will definitely need replacements.

I've asked him to call the discount place and find out how much they are so I can budget them into July. I'm trying to figure out where the money will come from. I'm thinking we need a specific "auto repair fund" that I start putting money into (after all, my car needed almost $1K in transmission work last month ) ... or do you take this kind of thing out of your EF??? Any advice welcome!!!!
I would take it out of EF as it's safety - but I'd right away work CRAZY HARD to refill the EF.
