We are up north.....just on a different coast. It was 90 in Seattle today! The good news is that I've wanted nothing but fruits, veggies and water for the last 3 days. The bad news is that no one has a/c and my house is warmer than the outside temp. Thank goodness for my air conditioned gym!

NSV today- I was ordering my "fan gear" for my daughter's soccer team. I turned in the order form and the woman coordinating said "are these for you?". When I said yes, she pulled samples out for me to try on. I had ordered for my old self in my old sizes!

I'm actually doing a version of this designed by a friend who is training for a marathon. I did my first full 5K distance today!

It's not food so much as situations that cause me to have a brainless eating response:

1. Coming home from work and dinner isn't ready. (Dh cooks on days when I don't get home until 5:30 or 6.) Yesterday we had a power outage and so dh had to go GET dinner. I downed 2 cookies and 3 handfuls of goldfish.

2. Being tired. When I'm really tired, I eat without thinking.

3. Grading papers. Apparently I need to sequester myself in a library where there is no food allowed. Grading papers just SUCKS up my energy and makes me crave sweets to no end.

4. Making food for my kids. It's so ingrained in my to lick off the knife before I put it in the sink! Sometimes there's quite a bit of nutella left on it! :

Congrats! Are you sure the heat wave doesn't make you retain water ? That's what I've been trying to tell myself about my failure to lose last week! At least we had a storm last night that cleared things up (and knocked our power out for 6 hours!)

That's great! Doesn't that feel good?

I wore some shirts this week that I'd gotten at various family reunions, but had been too tight before. They fit! Yeah, that means I'm down to an XL in "One size fits all" clothing :

I had wi on Wednesday and I gained 0.2 which essentially means I stayed the same. (I should have peed before I weighed in) That's okay because I had a lot of "guessing points" this week where I really wasn't sure how to point things (anyone know how to point fried mushrooms and cauliflower? couldn't find it anywhere...). Also, I'm up at my parents' house so the scale is different I'm sure I"ll do better this week if for no other reason than I get to exercise lots and lots. These last three days I've clocked 16 miles total! Yeah!

Hi ladies!
This is my first post in this thread. I joined WW this week & had my first meeting on Thursday morning. I really want to stick with it this time!
I went to the gym today and mostly ran 1.5 miles. So I'm pleased with that. Plan to go back again tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm very happy to see this thread here! Look forward to learning lots from you ladies!

now you KNOW you can scrape that knife off on the edge of the container before you lick

being tired-- yep, and being cranky, and going way past meal-time when i'm past hungry.

sorry, but the blurb about grading papers making you crave just makes me i don't know why! it's funny to me! remind me not to become a teacher

still hanging around at 190.4; i'm happy with it because i've been utterly off program for awhile now. trying to get back in the habit. it's amazing what one week of being sick will do! but i'm doing better. there's no ice cream in the house and i haven't caved yet to running to the store just for that!

I'm on track this week, tacking, counting everything. My official WI isn't until tomorrow, but I weighed in today. I'm 0.6 lbs HEAVIER than last Sunday's WI. WTH????

I even exercised 2x this week too. I'm planning on going to the gym to start day 2 of the C25k program. But this is just so frustrating!!

actually, I like my job. And as a college professor, I don't have classroom management issues. But yes, the grading sucks.

Sorry Ami, that's frustrating! What time of your cycle are you in? Have you eaten anything with a lot of salt this week? Are you using all your WPs? APs?

I'm about halfway through my cycle--it's going to start sometime mid-month. I've eaten all my WP, & have saved up my APs for today. I didn't get all my water in for 2 days this week, but it shouldn't have done anything. I am really really hungry though, at the end of the day. Been good & not eaten, so I'm a bit annoyed about it. I also feel bloated. Maybe it's ovulation???

As for the paper grading, I had to do some as part of one of my internships. I hated it--bad writing, bad essay structure, ick. Have you thought about subbing tea instead of sweets? I love the French Vanilla one, and the Chocolate Chai tea. I put in a little bit of Stevia to sweeten it further. Works really well for hitting the sweet tooth. Plus, if you chose the decaf versions, you're getting in your water too!

Down .2 for this week which puts me at down 12.2 in 4 weeks. I was so hoping to hit 5% this week, but missed it by .3. Hopefully next week.

I did eat a bunch of turkey bacon on BLT's the night before I, so I am hoping it was all water retention. I also had to WI a day early because I had an appointment that I couldn't change at my regular meeting time this week.

Baby steps.

UGH, I HOPE I can get back to the computer again this weekend! We've been crazy busy here. Two of my kiddos finished school, so I've had them home the last few days and haven't had a chance to check out anything on the computer!

I think I've done OK so far, did have one crazy high point meal (chinese, and it was greasy bleh!), but I went with practically a 0 point dinner after that (salad, loads of veggies with balsamic).

Hope to catch in with everyone later tomorrow!!!

Maybe - I seem to lose less when I'm ovulating. I'm just too hungry!

Thanks - tea does help. I'm a bit dubious about chai. I'm a traditional 'black tea' kind of person. Black with milk, or fruit teas are good. I actually bought an electric kettle for my office a couple of weeks ago, and that helps.

But, really, I need to chew something while grading. Gum helps, as do carrots. (OK, gummi bears are the ideal texture. Anyone know somethng that has the same texture, only not full of sugar?) Something sensory is going on there, I think, to help me concentrate.

I've got "new" clothes!

So, today I finally got out box #1 from the garage. I'd put two boxes of clothes that didn't fit away in January, before starting WWs.

And 3/4 of the stuff that I put away fit! :::::

I'm down 2 sizes in shirts, 1 size in pants, and 1-2 in skirts, depending on how elastic the waist is. I put on a skirt that I hadn't worn since the month I got pg with dd. (I know because I found a note in the pocket that was directly related to my pregnancy with dd!) So, I've got 2 "new" pairs of pants, 4 "new" shirts for work, a "new" dress, 2 "new" skirts, and a snazzy skirt/top combo. The only bad news is that the shirts, dress and skirt/top combo are all winter stuff, and it's going to be too hot to wear them soon. I did wear the dress to church today though.

Congrats Lynn56! Feels amazingly wonderful doesn't it? Too bad about the seasonal conflict, but sounds like you'll get at least a little use before the heat increases too much. Perhaps by then, you'll need the next size down anyway & this will have provided a fresh wardrobe to see you through.

So, I feel like I totally blew it today. I had a good breakfast of an egg white omelet with low fat cheese and tomatoes with a glass of skim milk. I then went to a 2 year old's birthday party/barbeque and ate potato salad, a chicken breast, a hamburger (granted, it was 93% lean and only 3 points but still...), three different kinds of cake , and a helping of strawberry rhubarb crisp. The cake slices that I had were very small, but still, they were cake. With frosting.....

I didn't eat dinner, and am totally craving veggies now. I definitely did not get in my daily fruits and veggies, but I am tired and too wiped out to even go grab an apple and eat it. Plus I feel just like I totally let go at the barbeque and ate whatever I wanted to without any regard for my diet.

I didn't end up leaving stuffed, but I definitely felt like I had eaten all the wrong things. I think I will try to go running tomorrow and eat on plan for the rest of the week and skip all of my WP's if I can. I just feel like I totally blew it today.

Be careful here because you're setting yourself up with a 'deprivation' mindset. Your WP ARE on plan. You are supposed to eat them. Part of the beauty of WW is that you can save up your WP for days like today and not feel too guilty. Are you going to go to barbeques for the rest of your life and NEVER eat? Remember, part of WW is including treats.

Now, I do feel guilty on occasion, but usually it's when I 'squander' points eating a handful of this and a handful of that while walking through the kitchen. I don't really need to grab a handful of goldfish or Life cereal. I did that a lot yesterday and ended up using 8 WP on junk. That makes me rethink my eating.

On Friday, I had a serving of SunChips at a meeting (3 points), and a small scoop of ice cream at a party at dd's school. I didn't feel guilty about that because I wanted those things and had the points. I'm not going to rethink those things because they're part of a normal diet. 15 Sunchips and 1/4 cup of ice cream satisfied me.

Thanks! It does feel good. I think the skirts will last me through the summer, and then I might be down to Box #2 for the Fall/Winter. My students may wonder why I'm wearing the same 3 skirts and shirts to teach during summer school!

One day doesn't make or break our success. It's our habits over the long run.

Why didn't you eat dinner? Skipping meals, no matter what you ate before, isn't "on-plan." A light dinner made from filling foods is always a good bet. And feeling like you've misbaved and therfore don't deserve food is not the path to making peace with your body and with food.

This is a lifetime thing. Just as doing everything right for one meal won't get us where we want to be, doing everything wrong for one meal won't keep us from getting there either. We can never totally blow it.

Did you track what you ate? Estimated the portions, looked things up, and made your best guess to the number of points consumed? Personally, I think this is the best thing you can do at this point. I doubt that it is really all that bad.

Do the math and see if you've used up your 35 WP or not. Don't assume that one party used up all your 35 points.

Changing this thought pattern was a plataue buster for me. When I decided to seriously track everything (even foods I felt like I shouldn't have eaten) and use up my 35 WP without guilt, I became more successful.

And if you are out of WP after doing the math (or have run over), my advice really depends on how many DP you get and how important the WP are to you staying on plan. If you really have plenty of DP to easily stay on plan, then just use DPs. If you don't have enough DP to easily stay on plan, give yourself 4 WP per day to use for the rest of the week. Although it means that you are resigning your self to staying the same this week rather than losing, it gets you back under control and back on plan.

Baby is crabby, so I hope I'll make it back to post later. All of us have colds......but I weighed in this morning with a 2.8 lb loss.
