It's June!!! ~ Chat Thread ~ June 1-7 - Page 3

Oh and I agree with those of you who say you are exhausted. I have had really low energy this entire pregnancy. I never really got that 2nd trimester energy like most ppl get. For me the best I can do is ONE task a day, after that I'm too pooped out. So, that is why I'm trying to get started now, so HOPEFULLY by the time the baby comes, I will be finished.

I'm exhausted too, but it may be that I can't make myself get to bed on time. lol That isn't helping anyway.

We have a first name picked out, but can't decide on a middle. We love both choices we are looking at.

Chiro today. I'm so happy! I'm hoping we can fix my right hip. It's been bugging me since last week.

We have settled on Kaya Rose... what do you all think?

I like it

Do you pronounce it Ky-yuh? or Kay-ah

Kaya Rose is pretty.

The first thing I thought of is the Bob Marley song "Kaya." It's only today though that I realized he was singing about marijuana and not a girl named Kaya

I love it! I think that's a beautiful name.

DH and I have yet to come to an agreement on a name, boy or girl (we haven't found out the gender). I really, really want a particular boy's name, but DH says absolutely not. DH, on the other hand, really, really wants a particular girl's name, but I'm not so sure. I tried to make him an offer: we'll use my name if the baby is a boy, and his if the baby is a girl, but DH won't agree to that.

Sigh. It would be SO MUCH easier if I didn't have to confer with anyone else on this issue!

Its funny, because that is where we originally got the name from!
It was really the only one Dh and I agreed upon and in Hebrew it means "life" (Chaya) which I really love. We will pronounce it Ky-ah. I love Rose, but Dh thinks its a little too old-fashioned so we will keep it as the middle name.

Very pretty.

I think our choice is down to one name. Now if only I could get some input on the middle/last name conundrum. I wanted to use boyfriend's last name as a middle name, and give the baby my last name. Boyfriend isn't keen on it at all. I don't like hyphens.

Yesterday was an awful day. Dad's facing another below-the-knee amputation within the week, and I misplaced his debit card which we need for... everything. I woke up at 4AM this morning with weird pains. They seem to have gone now; probably just stress related.

Kaya Rose is very beautiful!

This baby will definitely be named Penelope, but go by Poppy. We settled on Rose as a middle name, also, but then had second thoughts (Poppy Rose seemed a bit too flowery ). So now we're thinking Quinn. But if she's born before 39 weeks she'll be Penelope June!

I love Penelope! I think Penelope June is sooo pretty! If my baby was a girl we were going to name her Amelia June (even if she was born in July).

Kaya Rose is a very nice name.

Our little girl is going to be named Graysen Rose. It seems like Rose is a very popular middle name.

I love the names you guys picked! I have an aunt June. It is pretty.
We are naming our girl (if it is a girl) Charlotte Nubia.
Charlotte is the french form of Caroline and this baby is due on my b'day Nubia is after my aunty whom I love and admire more than any woman on this planet!
If it is a boy (can you tell I really don't think it is a boy?) we'll name him Miles David. Yes, I know sound like the musician almost but Miles is the only name we both agree on and David is after DH's Dad. I also love the name Harrison (Harri for short)....so we might have a last minute switch if it is a boy

I love Charlotte (with an emphasis on the O, like we say in my language) and Caroline (with an emphasis on the I in my language )
Sadly, DH does not want either...

We are thinking of Natalie though

Boy names? I LOVE Noah, but DH is not hot about it.
I really wanted Emil for our youngest son, but DH vetoed it.
Well, now he is the one sugesting it. I feel weird using it though because it became a "leftover" name after it not being "good enough" before for DH, KWIM?

I am pretty set on Oliver Lee for our baby. But we are also considering Griffin... We will wait to see him to make the final decision.

Our DD is Maya, so I really like Kaya, too Very pretty. And, I wanted to name this baby Chael (Ki-ell, with emphasis on second syllable) but DH nixed it DH's name is Michael, so I thought it was a different way to name the baby after him without actually using his name. But, we don't even know the gender so it might not make a difference if it's not a boy! We don't have names set for sure, but there are a couple that we like. Our frontrunner for a boy is Liam Frederick, with Jad Frederick in a distant second. For a girl it's a close match between Nora Kate, Sophie Joy, and Zoe Kate. But who knows, we could come up with something completely different once we actually see the LO

For some reason I can't make new threads with the new format (ugh!) so I'll post my question here Anyone want to start a thread for me?

I'm planning a homebirth for this baby, but am doing backup care with a group of hospital midwives. With DD, I started measuring small around 33 weeks and I discussed the possibility with both my HB and hospital midwife that it might happen again. Both assured me that, because of my height/torso lenght, it wouldn't be surprising if I do measure small with this one. DH and I decided to skip the 20 week u/s, but did have one at 17 weeks (just not a detailed one for all the anatomy). Well, of course now this baby is measuring small :P I'll be 36 weeks on Saturday, and today she measured me at 31. I know that the baby has dropped recently, but that is a pretty big difference...2 weeks ago (at 34 weeks) she had me at 33. I know it can have to do with baby's position, but when I measure at home I can NEVER get within the 2cm of my # of weeks. So, now I'm faced with the dilemma of whether or not to have an u/s to check kidney function and fluid level. On the one hand, I don't want to ignore a potential TRUE problem...but on the other I don't want to start a cascade of interventions that last time ended in an induction. The induction went well but I might not be so lucky this time, and obviously I wouldn't be able to have a homebirth...

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm leaning toward having the u/s, but I'm still pretty torn on the whole thing...DH thinks we should skip it but will agree to whatever I decide.

I think you have to go with your gut. If you really feel that everything is okay, skip it. If you feel deep down that something isn't right, get the ultrasound. I know that probably doesn't help, but I just think that you are a lot more likely to know what to do. I totally understand not wanting a cascade of interventions.

I am doing great. Louisa is having phototherapy, but still at home. I think her bilirubin levels are on the way down- seems to have plateaued yesterday. She has started gaining weight back. Having 2 kids is a whole new world. I am pretty sure that I am not going to be ready when DH goes back to work....

I can't believe it's June! It's delightful to be able to tell people when they ask how far along are you? "Oh the baby will be here sometime next month"
I just checked UPS.com and my diapers are 'out for delivery' so they will be here today :
We set up the bassinet in our room this weekend, it's a little strange to realize that sometime next month our little babe will be sleeping with us.
I am with everyone being tired. I keep telling myself that my body is getting geared up for labor, but it's so strange being as tired as I was in the 1st trimester all over again. I took a 2 hour nap yesterday, and still slept 12 hours last night. So strange!
I still have 3 more weeks of work left, I'm a little afraid that I'm going to be sitting at my desk one day and my water will break or something. I'm set to be there until the 27th of June

Yay!!!

I bought most of our diapers in Jan and Feb.. I went a little crazy.. this baby is going to have a super cute cloth bottom! I justified my spending by knowing I could resell everything and make half or most of my money back.. I did get some new stuff because I found a website where the mama was going out of business and everything was at cost!

For those of you CDing.. are you planning on CDing from the beginning? I don't want to deal with the meconium in the CDs... so I was thinking I would start CDing after that has passed.

Wow, I feel really unprepared compared to all of you! I'm 32.5 weeks today, and I've been telling everyone that I'm due in August so often that I'm starting to believe it. It is a definite possibility, but I should probably prepare myself in case I do have a baby next month!

The last 3 1/2 weeks I've been traveling all over Eastern Europe, so the only nesting I could do was some knitting. I had a blast on the trip, and was more comfortable than I expected, but it is sooo good to be home. Now I just need to get over the jetlag and the souvenir cold I brought home so I can really get to work. I don't have diapers, a car seat, a stroller, any real amount of clothes, baby carriers, birth/post partum supplies, a name for the baby...there's probably more I'm not thinking of. The only thing I've managed to do today is catch up on my feed reader and make a grocery list. And now I'm feeling a nap coming on.
