I noticed she was wearing one of those things to hold the baby while bf'ing.

I think she's mentioned before that it's a My Brest Friend pillow. She straps it on and uses it to help support the baby when she's walking and nursing. I, too, was impressed to see her nursing at the school.

I am watching the Jill and Jana tooth episode right now when they got the tooth surgery. I just love how the family came together for them. Loved JoyAnna working so hard for them.

Just love this family! ::

I too can't help but love this family. The kids are so darn cute and articulate. And Michelle just seems like the sweetest lady.

I watched the wisdom teeth and double date episodes tonight (I am a bit behind I think, those are reruns, right?) The double date was cute!

Did anyone find it creepy that their DIL was distraught that it was taking four months to get pregnant? That poor girl looks about 16 and can't be more than 19 at most. So if she weans early like her MIL and has a baby every year or so she could have like 30 babies. I am sorry, but that is just sick. I used to like this show, but now its creeping me out that baby factory is the goal of these young girls. How will they react if one of their daughters wants a career and less than a dozen babies?

I believe that Anna got engaged on her 21st birthday (as was her promise to God). And just because you wouldn't have that many children doesn't make it sick. Plenty of people have a desire to have children immediately after getting married.

And one of their girls does want a career, I can't remember which, but one girl wants to be a midwife and Jim Bob and Michelle support that.

Different worldviews, different beliefs, different values....

I married at nineteen and got pregnant on our honeymoon. We were *thrilled*. Dh and I both would have been surprised and probably sad if it had taken several months. To us babies are an integral, highly desired, beneficial addition to marriage. I have three kids now and was very upset at over 6 months of infertility and then a miscarriage when I finally did get pregnant with my fourth. I'm quite happy to be a 'baby factory' if that's what you want to call it. :

Michelle weans when her milk runs out *after* she gets pregnant. And she's had trouble with nursing. Hopefully Anna will have better luck in that regard. Even so, it's *highly* unlikely that she'll have 30 kids, or even 20. The Duggars are on the high end of the human fertility norm.

I'm sure the Duggar's are aware that it's unlikely all their children will follow *exactly* in their footsteps. Having followed this family for a couple years now, and knowing people who know them personally, I'm positive that children who go down a different path will be treated with love and grace even if their parents disagree with what they are doing.

I guess, for me, part of respect for another person is not passing judgement on their choices. Some people want babies at 21.

Some people (like me) have circumstances and life situations that make it more feasible to have your first baby at 31. And, if my MIL asks me one.more.time about "having a baby so late in life", I very well may hit her.

For some people, having babies at 21 works. For others, having babies at 40 works. There really isn't a rulebook there.

You're right when the boys were listing everything they wanted to be Jimbob said the girls could be nurses or midwives -that's a lot of choices mom, nurse midwife

Thank you! I am so there with you. I think Anna is 18 and Josh is 21.

I thought he said the girls *wanted* to be nurses or midwives?

I think I still have it on the TIVO and if so I will go back and check but I'm pretty sure he said something to the effect of "We would support them if they wanted to be nurses or midwives." Not an exact quote but something close...

When I watched, one of the older girls said she wanted to be a midwife.

Exactly.

And another thing, is 4 months can seem like an eternity to someone trying to get pregnant.

: I've seen many a person freak out when they don't get pregnant within a few months, seems they wanted to conceive straight away, it's not really that weird.

I'm actually thinking of a different episode, or one of the specials. One of the girls said she wanted to be a midwife. Actually I think a lot of the girls had ideas of what they wanted to do with their life beyond being a mommy. (And in that episode the little one wanted to be Johanna which made me smile.)

Ok, according to the TLC page, Joy-Anna wants to be a nurse, Ginger wants to be a chef, Jessa wants to be a Beautician, Jill wants to be a Missionary, and Jana wants to be a midwife.

I don't understand why wanting to have children is so creepy.

Anna is over 21. She said she didn't want to get married until after 21 so she didn't.

Here is a list of the kids and what they would like to be when they grow up
. Jinger wants to be a chef. Yay for tater-tot casseroles!!!

I think he said those were some things the girls wanted to be, not that those were their only acceptable choices. We also thought Johanna was sweet in that episode and got a kick out of her brushing her teeth last night

I really felt for Jill before her surgery. I have a birth defect that requires me to have CS's and I get the exact same way before them. I get so scared, I could really empathize with her

I just love this family.
