May '09 DDC Weight Loss Accountability Thread! - Page 2

Okies, didn't lose any weight this week, but here is my exercise log:

Mon-30 min walk
Tue-40 min walk, Abs, push ups
Wed-40 min jog/walk
TH- ----abs, push ups
Fr------
Sat-40 min jog/walk, push ups
Sun-50 min walk

I always have the munchies in the evening. BUt it is worse after DD has been fussy for a couple of hours. I put her to bed and I want to munch on something not healthy.

I haven't lost any wt either this wk. Started at 169, up to 171, down to 168, and now right back where I started at 169. Oh well, I know I have been eating healthier (tracking my food on Spark People), so I guess it's been a good week anyway.

I've been getting a little too much of the *wrong* kind of exercise though- chasing DD and Nephew and jumping on the trampoline with them all weekend has made me start spotting again, after 2 wks without. Guess I need to stick with just walking for now, no matter how energetic I feel.

Nolansmum, you mentioned looking for a good sports bra... I'm quite busty while nursing so I feel your pain! Have you found any good sports bras that actually go above an E cup? I haven't looked yet but I need to...

Sports Bra- i went to nordstrom, where i always get my bras, and they had 2. 1 from dk:the 34 DDD fit me.

I've been walking. Yesterday after dinner, I took the 3 youngest on a walk in the neighborhood. That's my first time walking hills pp. It was a lot more of a workout than I anticipated! Especially pushing the toddler in the stroller. I'm looking forward to doing it again today. Not ready for the big hill yet
I'm also looking forward to weigh in at my 6wk appt.
I may have to break down and buy a scale!

Yuck!! Week 3 (almost 4 weeks) pp: I'm 163.5. Up from 162.5 last week...maybe that was just a fluke.
I lost a bunch of weight really fast (25lbs), but now I'm terrified that that was it and the rest is real, bona fide FAT that I'm going to have to kill myself to lose.
I am really grossed out by myself right now and cannot bear the thought of spending all summer in those wretched maternity jeans. Yuck. yuck.yuck.yuck.
[/end temper tantrum]
I did yoga this afternoon and took a 45 min walk with the girls. Pushed #1 in the stroller and held #2 in the Moby. Made a point of not avoiding the steep hill in the park. Counted calories a few times over the last week...but it seems like even when I think I'm eating like a pig (trust me, I am) - it's still within my recommended 2100-2300 calorie alottment for breastfeeding. That still seems like a lot to me...but they said an extra 500 cals for breastfeeding...so...hmmm..
I really need to see this number start going down again.

Same here, I am just appalled at the thought of restarting my bleeding. I haven't experienced that yet and when I thought about my activity level in the past pp, I was not having any sex (no way with #1 and not interested with #2), which is one difference this time and I gardened last week.

So on top of my hubby deploying after 3 days home on leave, I gardened and then starting bleeding at 5 1/2 weeks. Not cool. Not cool at all. I am getting weighed tomorrow at my 6 week check and I am really nervous. The older I get the more difficult it is to lose all the weight.

Good luck mamas, thanks for keeping the thread active, it really does motivate me to get out and move and walk.

Thanks! I will look into those.

Yay! 162.5 this AM! Why is that number so much more encouraging to me than 163?

No walk today, the weather is awful. I'm going to try and do yoga this afternoon...we'll see how it goes. DD1 is being a handful today.

I've been plateaued at 150 for 2 weeks and this morning I am 149! Its encouraging I'll be happy at 140 and anything less than that is icing on the cake!!

Yesterday as i swayed around with G in the sling I decided to do a bunch of squats. My legs were already a bit sore from gardening. It felt sooo good!! I am going to try to sneak in some hand weights when I watch tv at night, if dh will hold the baby. There really isn't a moment that he is not on me!

Yay! only 9 lbs to go!

I love the squats idea! dd is always on me too. I realized the other day that I put the wrap on around 9 or 10 and didn't take it off until around 7pm! I wonder if just babywearing all day counts for exercise? Will have to do the squats. My butt could definitely use them.

April and Laura-going the right way!!

I am having a low self esteem day. I pulled out my summer clothes, some of them saved from long ago because they are bigger sizes. I am about the same weight as before DS and the pants still dont fit:. The muffin top is really getting in the way.

I need to step up my ab work to get the muscles tight again. blech.

Maybe I need to stop weighing myself every day. 163 today. Poop sandwich. I am SO sick of this flab!!!

Dh told me this morning that I could get my hair cut and highlighted (a BIG splurge since I usually cut it myself) when I get to 140. I can't believe my weight loss has leveled off so fast this time! I guess I really did a lot of damage to myself during pg with all that eating...I didn't even really feel like I was eating badly...I guess my body just really packed it on.

Boo. I'm so depressed about this.
going out for a long, fast-ish walk with the girls.

so I have 15 pounds to be where I was pre-kids, but 20 pounds to be where I want to be. The MW was at the house today and she brought the scale.

So today I was at 139. My goal weight is 120 (I'm only 5'3") so I have a bit to go. Getting offline and out walking is my goal for this afternoon, just have to get the kids to go potty
post #34 of 88
I weighed myself at the mw today. Finally! So, I'm 10 lbs over where I was pre-baby. I'd like to lose a total of about 13 lbs.
Max's Mama, I'm 5'2, so I totally get how much 15 lbs can change the way we look! I want to walk tonight w/dh--we'll see how it goes. It's soooo hard to fit exercise in around house & kids!

Isn't amazing how height really matters when it comes to weight? (At 130 I can fit into a 4 or 6 and at 140 I am an 8. Right now at 149 I am a size 10)

Laura and nolansmum. Try not to be too hard on yourself!!

I have to keep reminding myself that my body while nursing is just going to have a little extra meat on it. Just the way it is, and its important for my baby! Last night when I got out of the tub I took a good look at myself in the mirror and cringed. I'm really hoping that I can get back to where I was after Lochlan. I got in great shape! I also worked my @ss off to get there, and it mostly didn't happen till I was done nursing!

Just found this thread... I'm just now 2 weeks pp, and haven't weighed myself yet. I gained WAY more weight during pregnancy than I had planned... 50 lbs nearly. I know at this point my body isn't done shrinking back down, but my self esteem is pretty low. I feel like I have a ton of work to do, and have been out walking a bit at least. My tummy has gone down quite a bit so far, but there is still so much work to do!

Awww...this is about where I am, too. Only I *did* gain 50lbs. At least. And so far, only 27 of it has come off. The thought that I still need to lose at 20 more lbs to look even remotely like my old self...makes me want to jump off a cliff. I'm trying to keep a lid on it, but sadly, the only thing that makes me feel close to post partum depression is the weight issue. Everything else is great, but if I stop to really think about what the last 9 months did to my body, all I want to do is cry and call a plastic surgeon.

:

The additional thing is that w/ three kids it's hard to get physical activity that will burn calories. I love to walk , but alone is boring and I don't have 'peeps' that I can count on to walk regularly. I detest going with just the short ones. Walking with a friend takes the boring out of it.

I know....walking can be boring and, if your kids are anything like my 3 yr old, they're slow! We live by a rather large park (ahem, in San Francisco, sharing a name with a bridge), so that provides a lot of pretty trails and paths for outdoor exercise. It makes it slightly less boring...but still, I don't feel like it's FAST enough at helping me get the weight off. And I want to do yoga, but every time I try, DD tries to hang off of me (it's hard to do downward dog when you have a 31lb kid hanging off of you).

Grrr...what about bringing an ipod along with you? I don't have an exercise buddy either (in fact, most of my friends don't live around here, sadly)...but at least keeping up with you guys online has helped me stay a little more optimistic about getting in control of my weight.

I've been eating tuna with a giant salad every day for the last 4 days. I'm not sick of it yet, and glad that at least I can eat lettuce w/out #2 getting gassy.

I find it a lot harder with 2 LO to exercise. I cannot walk with DS at all because he is too slow and DD can come when I am walking, but she is still too little to be out in the jogger when I am jogging. So DH has to be home to take care of them. He has not gotten the 'hang' of DD yet. She won't take a bottle and whenever she fusses with him, he says she needs to nurse. Which is not true.

I didn't lose anymore weight this week. BUt I have been good about exercise (DH has been off work the past week.) My body is rediscovering muscles that I had a long 9 months ago. I feel so weak, not just my abs.

Hope everyone is having a 'healthy' week!
