It can be sooo daunting!! But baby steps will get you there!! Sounds like you're doing well with eating Laura!

Erin~ you'll get back to your old self!! Boot camp!!??

Honestly though, the only thing that keeps me encouraged is that I did it once before. I don't know how many of you have cable but I started out last time by doing a half hour workout session off fit tv (Gilad!) a few times a week, then I started doing 20 minute power sessions from my video on demand. We're talking high intensity interval training everyday. I'd put my ds down for a nap- bang it out in 20 minutes and then shower and clean the house in high gear.

Once our little ones start napping on a schedule it might be easier to exercise. I got out the weights yesterday and my ds took the 3 lb-ers and was doing them with me. But of course ds2 wouldn't stay asleep so I couldn't really do much.

The eating is not going so well for me. I am sick with a cold and feel really burned out by meeting everyones needs so I ate a sleeve of cookies for lunch. And I ate pretty bad over the weekend. But my DH is wanting to slim down so that might make it easier for us to eat healthy. Seems like he always wants to sabotage me with soft serve and take out.

Still hanging out at 169 here, exact same wt as I was 2 wks ago. I do think part of the reason that I'm not losing on the scale yet is due to regaining lost muscle, like Nolansmum mentioned. I know I'm getting back into shape slowly but surely, because my butt and thighs are starting to fit into some of my larger pre-baby shorts again. Now the muffin top, that's another story...

I haven't been doing any "official" exercise, but have been playing outside with the kids a lot. I spent 30 minutes Sunday night hacking away at the weeds in my garden with a hoe, and I felt *so good* after working up a good sweat.

My parents just got their pool ready for the season, and I'm looking forward to swimmimg as much as I can this summer. Really, I think just staying active outside every day is about the right level of activity for now. That in addition to continuing the healthier eating...

Yeah, it is *so* helpful to have SO's on board with you. My DH has been joining me in eating salads and fruit, and my parents are also on a healthy eating kick, which makes it easy to keep eating healthy while I'm at their house. However, I live right next door to my SIL and MIL, both of whom are yo-yo dieters. Currently they are on the low end of the yo-yo, and they are constantly reminding me of the four different kinds of ice cream in their freezer! Ack! Please stop with the sabotaging, ladies! :

My eating could use some improving. But I think we're getting better. Ds3 was really sick for a few days, so that didn't help. Yeah, sleeve of cookies is right.
I made homemade pizza for dinner last night, which is really healthy since I control what all goes in it. And we're eating that for breakfast--of course! I'm also stocking up on lots of fresh fruits a veggies to have around for snacks. Peas, mangoes and cantaloupe are currently out.

I easily buttoned my size 10 jeans yesterday! WOOT! My goal is to get back into my 4/6 jeans. 4 from Gap/Banana Republic, 6 from everywhere else. I will need to go shopping anyway. I converted a fair number of my pants to maternity pants. So the shopping will be my reward. My plan is to buy myself one nice, non-thrift store outfit when I get back down to 115.

Isn't it great that it's nice weather season and we can all do this by just heading outside with our LOs?

I would love to get back into my size 4's also, though honestly I don't have anything larger than a 6 anymore! I lost a bunch of weight before I got preggo and tossed all my larger sizes! When I was pregnant, I definitely gained more than just baby. I bought some gaucho style pants from target and have been wearing those, so all I know is that I'm a stretchy size M!

DH and I eat pretty healthy, in fact he kept me on track tonight and grilled salmon instead of ordering out like I suggested. My mom is a pretty healthy person too, so we went on a long walk together today. I've been good about walking every day the weather cooperates, and that feels good. DH gained some weight with me, so once we move (2 weeks) I'll start walking twice a day and he'll go with me once. I'll also start exercising with dvds or something once DD is able to lay down for a nap.

Still haven't weighed myself... I don't own a scale. For better or worse, I guess!

Sounds like we are all doing pretty well on the eating healthy front! A few cookies here and there aren't so bad. I stress eat too, crunchy stuff especially.

Ahh, size 4. That is my goal. I am finally fitting into my size 8's from before my first pregnancy. I think my hips are finally shrinking back into place too, because I haven't lost anymore weight but I can button up more pants. I lost a ton of weight after having DS. I did a few different elimination diets. I'm hoping my body remembers being at that weight and that I can get back there!

Yay! I finally lost a pound this morning! My 3-wk plateau is finally over! :

I looked up some weight watchers points system info online, and I've been tracking points the past few days, rather than counting calories like I was before. For some reason the points things clicks with me better, maybe because it feels kind of like a game to me, and it's easier to keep a running tally going in my head as my day progresses. I realized that I haven't been totally honest with myself re: portion sizes, so I've been gradually improving there too.

I've also been chewing gum between meals to keep the munchies at bay. Mindless between-meal snacking seems to be my downfall.

Made it out for another walk again today. I'm feeling good because I normally have a terrible time getting motivated to do any kind of consistent workout. I guess it's easier to be motivated with DD.

Still haven't weighed myself though.

Bad news: I weighed myself this morning at the scale said 165. I hate the scale. That's up two lbs from last time. Crappity crappity crap.

GOOD news: I've been working out. Walking w/ kids each day and for the last three days, I've done yoga plus stretching plus 20 minutes on my elliptical. Hope it will start showing results soon! Even if it's just more toning..

Yes I am pretty dismayed at the weight I gained in my thighs! DH keeps telling me "Erin you JUST had a baby!" whenever I get frustrated. Its hard to not get frustrated though!

OK, I'm joining a bit late in the game, but better late than never hey
I'll convert my weights from kilos to pounds, so that I can understand better what you guys are all talking about.

Pre-preg: 216
Pre: 242
6 wks pp: 219:
Goal: 155

So, from the above figures, I've lost all by 3 lbs of my pregnancy weight. I was significantly overweight pre-pregnancy, combination of bad eating, IVF meds, depression meds ....

So I need to lose about 65 lbs. Holy cr@p!!!
Hey, would pumping extra bottles of breastmilk and pouring them down the sink help to lose weight?
This has been a good week for me. After losing basically nothing for 3 weeks or so, I looked up info on weight watchers points, and in the past week I've lost 2 pounds finally! Yay! It's about time! I like the points thing, because it gives me the extra push I need to eat lots of whole foods (fruits and veggies all have 0-1 point it seems) and less processed stuff.

I've been working in the garden every time it's dry enough and I can find someone to hold the baby (we live next door to MIL, so she's usually more than happy to oblige). I have felt so good after working hard enough to get my heart rate way up and break a good sweat. I was getting pretty inactive the last few weeks of my pregnancy.
Good for you, Major_mama! Working in the garden sounds great. Hopefully it will be nice enough this week I can get some weeding done!
Poppies, I guess it would burn extra calories, but why dump? There are lots of mammas in need, I bet you could find someone who would be more than ecstatic to get your milk. Look on Milk Share or something similar.

I took the 3 youngest for a walk today. I've been pretty good about it. I'm going to buy a scale today so I can keep track of where I'm at. I don't think my butt has shrunk much at all, sad to say.

Majormama-thank goodness someone here is having some weight loss to inspire the rest of us! I have been thinking about weight watchers points, my neighbors both do WW. I would have plenty of support here.

No weight loss this week and I have been stress eating even more. DS has been challenging, DH has been working a lot at night, and I am trying to get DD on a good sleep schedule. Ahh! I had all but stopped eating for stress a couple of years ago!

I finally got some gardening in last weekend between rain storms and it felt so good to dig in the dirt. There is a lot to do in the garden, I could weed every week...

I'm jumping in here, I had to come find you

I'm down to 156 now. I stayed at 160 for several weeks and then dropped another 4 pounds overnight, that seems to be what I do as far as losing the pregnancy weight. My goal is to get back to 130 so I have another 26lbs. to go. I'd like to reach that goal by September.

So far we've been going on nightly walks with DS in the jogging stroller and Laine in the Beco. I'd like to work myself up to jogging when she's big enough to go in the jogger and if I can find a place to go with them.

For those of you looking for walking partners, do you have any local mom's groups where you can start a walking group? Almost always, there are people looking for exercise partners who would be more than willing to join.

It must be something in the air, since I also had to come find this crowd and here you are. : : :

I am 15 months (yes, months!) postpartum and am still carrying extra weight that should have been gone a long time ago. I have excuses, oh lots of excuses -- too little time, too much to juggle, dh is out of town, ds won't tolerate the day care room at the YMCA, my food obsessed mom lives with us -- but seriously, I have to be done with excuses.

So, tomorrow I get back on WW. I know it is kind of lame and I have a real love/hate relationship with WW. It works for me, but I tend to get really irritated with the whole counting points mess. And yes, I know about core and all, but I tend to overeat when I think of food as 'free'. So, I am going to just be serious and do 6 weeks of focused WW.

Tomorrow should go like this:

oatmeal, almonds -- 6
banana -- 2
salmon, brown rice, broccoli -- 8
protein shake -- 4
terriyaki chicken, brown rice, veggie, beer -- 12

32 points. That is a lot but I my toddler is nursing like a newborn right now and I am crazy hungry.

That's the plan.

Oh, and I should weigh myself and I'll get to it, but I am dreading the results since I can feel my weight is up a lot right now. :

Katie-good work!

Welcome Ruthie!

I have finally lost a lb! I have been at a plateau for a month. I've been ok with the exercise-getting in 3 runs a week, but not much walking. Dh has been working tons of hours the past 2 weeks so it is a lot harder to get out. DS is too big for a double jogger so I can only take the baby. He doesn't walk fast enough to make it exercise

Hope everyone is doing well!

Good morning all! First day went so-so. I went off plan a bit, but kept things reasonable. Today is another planned day (I do better with a plan).

I am going to journal my ww points and all, but I should probably do that over on the WW thread and not bombard you all with my obsessiveness.

Thanks Nolansmom!
