Is it ok to consume honey every day?

I have started adding honey to my breakfast, and wondered if it's okay to eat honey every day? -I don't know of anyone who has it every day, so im not sure.

I hope so, because I have been using honey in my tea every day for the past five years.

Well... is it okay to eat a gallon of it a day? No, probably not. But to consume small quantities of it? Sure. More "ok" than refined white sugar, in my book.

A spoonful drizzled on my fruit or stirred into my tea... I even make my ice cream with honey instead of sugar.

Unless you're drinking pitchers of it, sure it's okay. Why wouldn't it be?

I own a HFS and we sell local honey like it's going out of style. Our customers eat several tablespoons a day to help with allergies. This has a pretty good explanation of it's benefits for reducing allergies.

Yes, provided it is raw and unheated. Otherwise it is just sugar.

Yes.

How is raw, unheated honey different from just sugar?

It has nutritional benefits to it that refined white sugar does not have.

If it's in tea, does that count as heated?

Yes, heated it is just sugar. To obtain all the healthful enzymatic benefits of honey it should never be heated above 97Âş F, which is the hive temperature (bees flap their wings to keep their hives cool and will abandon their hives and honey if they cannot keep the temperature down). As the honey heats above 97Âş, the enzymes deteriorate, by 106Âş the honey has turned to sugar as the enzymes have been destoryed.

Even if the enzymes are destroyed, honey still contains some trace nutrients that are absent from refined sugar.

And anyway, eating a teaspoonful or so of "just sugar" a day isn't particularly harmful, provided the rest of your diet contains plenty of nutrients.
