Unusual blood stain on the bed

I was getting in to bed tonight when I noticed an unusual blood stain on the sheets by where DH's feet go. It looks like someone took a spray bottle and sprayed red all over the sheets. I checked DH's legs/feet and there isn't anything there that indicates he was bleeding. Besides, when I left the house this morning the blood was not there. The sheets are beige so it would have jumped out at me.

We checked the cats all over looking for blood. We couldn't find any indication that any of them were bleeding around the anus, anywhere in the fur, their noses, mouths, etc. Like I said it was very unusual, like a spray of blood instead of a spot. Almost like someone sneezed blood. They are all spayed/neutered. Everyone is eating and playing fine tonight and nothing unusual is going on in the litter box. I am still worried though. Any thoughts on this? It had to be the cats, no one else was home all day.

Has me wondering too about a sneeze? Do they sleep with you?

If it were me I'd likely watch them. Cats do enough grooming that likely if it was a temporary thing they would have groomed it off their face by now.

Could it of came from a sneeze? I have had a time or 2 Where I'll sneeze and get a bloody nose. My DH Has It a lot in the Winter from the dry air. Maybe Cats can have it happen too.

Did you check toes? maybe a nail got cough on a blanket.

I don't see any nail injuries either. Maybe it was just a fluke. I changed the sheets, and I don't see anything out of the ordinary today. They sleep on the bed, directly on the sheets pretty much all day when we aren't home. We have a super high thread count so they are really soft. The cats will actually burrow under the bedspread and move it so that they can lay directly on the sheets :
