Babywearing with a belly?

Hey Ladies!

I need some help. I'm planning on becoming pregnant very shortly, but am also a nanny to 3 small children and need help with a carrier.

I will be pushing the older two in the stroller most days and carrying the younger one, 12 months now. Which carriers and carries have you found work for a growing belly?

I have an ergo, a maya ring sling and a mei tai. Haven't figured out the side ergo carry yet but think this might be a good option. Need a pretty hands free hold for when I am pushing and one wants to walk!

This shouldn't be for large trip, seems like it will mostly be picking up and dropping off from classes and school once I am getting larger. For the first while it will be large portions of the day, so I'll be tired, but not showing.

I'm sure this has been chatted about here already, but I can't search right now

Thanks everyone

I would recommend a wrap, probably woven given the age of the child, which can be placed below the belly.

During morning sickness (which was all-day queasiness) I couldn't have anything around my waist. So I had to use ring slings (short trips) or wraps tied tibetan (long trips.) Later, after the queasiness subsided a bit I went back to using an SSC (like the Ergo) on my back, buckled under the bump.

bump. (hehe)

anyone else?

I'd love to be able to make/buy a moby style wrap for when the babe comes too, that is a really good idea. Off to try to find a cheap one

I used a mei tai mostly. I tied it under my breast/above my belly and carried my 18 month old in a high back carry. It worked out great and was super comfy. For me it seemed too low and wasn't as comfy to tie it under my belly. I also used wovens a lot to do similar carries where it was tied under my breast, but above my big belly. When I tried an Ergo it seemed too stiff and felt a lot of pressure on my belly in the first stages of pregancy and once I was bigger, it was just too low on me (I have a short torso, so didn't have much space for the padded waist). I hope that helps!

I used the Ergo a couple of times during late pregnancy with the extension for the waist strap.

Not PG, but I've used both a mei tei and woven wrap for a very high back carry where I tied the straps above & over my breasts (I have 38Gs I was wearing tanks/non-underwire bra so my breasts were sort of low and flat) It did mean that DS couldn't fall asleep since the back didn't come up to support his head, but he was securely enough in to not fall out. Since the youngest child is 12mo+ he should be fine like that.
