caterpillars

I'm sure this has been discussed, so please point me in the direction. Something is just mowing down my plants and it happens over night so I haven't much. I did find two light green caterpillars a few weeks ago but that is it. Any suggestions on how to deal with them? My seedlings are just gone.

Are you sure it isn't snails? When I have problems with seedlings disappearing it's usually snails.

well, it could be, but I haven't seen any slime. I suppose I could try copper tape and see if it helps. I found a recipe last night for a spray made of garlic, onion and red pepper flakes and I sprayed it around my plants. My butternut squash's last remaining leaf survived the night.
