Made fantastic meal the other night all veggie from the garden. Purple pole beans, fresh herbs, squash, onions, one bell pepper, and three tomato's!! Love a fresh garden meal.

I am getting 2-3 lemon cucumbers everyday right now. My zucc's are producing 2-3 per week. I have tons of snap peas and the tomatoes are finally turning!!

BUT, my honeydew just can't catch a break. I have three plants, all look wonderful, long vines, beautiful leaves, plenty of flowers and little 1/2 inch baby melons...but the babies keep turning yellow and shriveling! HELP!! I so want them to survive! I do have one that is about 1 inch now, but I am so afraid it's only teasing me and will wilt soon.

Any melon advice??

Now that its finally quit raining and warmed up here, my garden's doing great! Most of my tomato plants have tomatoes on them, my peppers still aren't growing, but they do have little peppers on them. Everything's just looking really good.

I do need to plant some more radishes since the first crop is ready now.

HELP! The ants are eating my cucumbers & yellow sqaush. I am about to tear out the cuc. It was beign eaten by some tiny little green & black bugs. Then I got them mostly under control, but they are coming back a bit & the ants are all over. The ants are eating not only the leaves but also the actual squash on my plant. I am SOOO angry! It is bad enough I am chasing them all over my house, but now they are devouring my garden too. I have been using castle soap & water as well as a pyrethrin spray, but they don't seem to be doing much. Any other suggestions??

maciascl,

What ate the squash adn cucs first? I fyou can catch them and kill them, I bet the ants will leave. Or, spread some ground cinnamon on the hill or trail of the ants. They'll avoid it at all costs. Pick off hte injured fruits, maybe even blast the ants with water to get them to disperse?

I am sorry. It absolutely sucks to lose plants to any creature!

They aren't getting pollinated. I am always worried about my melons not being naturally pollinated, so i hand pollinate what I can. This way I can insure i get some mature melons.

Is it vine burrowers??? If so you can try to cut them out of the stem and then bury that part of the vine.

They need a TON of water. You may also want to make sure you only have one or two melons per vine. I also then cut the vine about two leaves down from the fruit so it gets as much water as it needs, other wise water is going past the fruit to feed the end of the vine.

I just put up pictures of our cantaloupes on my blog we ate the first one yesterday!!!!!
