baby book

We have a baby book for DD, but I hate it. It's very mainstream (spots for rice cereal at 4 months, baby slept through the night in crib, place for schedules, etc.) and that drives me nuts. Plus there isn't a lot of room for adding in extra things that the book doesn't think are important. Are there any "crunchy" baby books out there?

What about The Baby Book by Dr. Sears?
I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Babyprints-Bab...3975453&sr=8-3

It's not crunchy, but it's not obnoxious like yours sounds - rice cereal, for real?!
It's post bound, so any page you don't want or need (like first easter, first hannukah, etc.) can be taken out. it also has photo sleeves in the back and comes with a touchless ink thingie to get foot and hand prints. the only thing i had to do was cross out "visiting the doctor" and put midwife instead.

ohhhhhh, that kind of baby book! LOL! I misunderstood what you were talking about! The one I have is called my first year. It came with a growth chart. It was a gift so I'm not sure where it's from. It's not that crunchy but not as nutty as your book!

I didn't do baby books. I started writing letters and putting them in a binder for each of the boys when I found out I was pregnant.

I've been using scrapbooks as kind of baby books. I don't "scrapbook" in the sense that I get all arty with it (I'm kind of the opposite of artistic), but I like to paste in pictures and clippings from things we did. For example, I have in there DD's name tag from library baby story time, the program from her baptism, etc. We have a fill-in baby book for her as well but we haven't used it quite as much.

This is the one I have and LOVE!!

http://www.buyolympia.com/q/Item=first1000days

It is pretty much totally blank- more of a journal style.
It has these great illustrations made by the artist Nikki McClure.
I have really enjoyed using it and have written everything in it!

I have this one, too! It's so pretty that I haven't actually written anything in it yet but I have all my notes in a document on my computer for when I get the chance.

I have this one. It is a beautiful book - it made me cry when I first saw at the store (okay, I was pregnant at the time, but still!). The only non-crunchy thing about it is that it has a whole page for filling in your lo's vaccinations, which we aren't doing. But other than that I love the book!

I realize this is way past the original post, but I have recently created a baby book just for home births! :) I began by making one for myself, and decided to print them for others. You can find it at

www.homebirthbabybook.com or

Thanks!
