help me figure out whats happening

Hello... I'm due 08/18 with baby #3. My problem started on Monday. I admittedly cleaned the house in the am and ate... poorly. I had 2 diet coke's and a granola bar. My stomach felt... tight and bloated, kinda like constipation. I rested, and it kept getting worse. Eventually the pain wrapped its way all the way around and i couldn't breathe by 9pm I was pretty scared. I had a bm, so decided it wasn't constipation. I couldn't tell, I know I was having contractions but couldn't tell where the began or ended because of the pain and pressure~ but the pressure is up high, on the top of my belly. Finally called the ER and was told to drink lots of water, bathe for 20 min and lay on my left side for 1 hour. I did, and that worked. I was sore and tired, but the pain had subsided for the most part.
Yesterday I woke up still feeling uneasy... But was able to go about the day fine. Drank lots of water and ate better... Rested... Last night, after a late dinner I felt the uncomfortableness come back. I wasn't having contractions last night, and I could feel the baby kicking me... But the pain was in my back and high on my stomach. The bath/water/left side business didn't work. I took some tylonal and fell asleep about 4am. Today I feel irritable and tired, and it's still hard to take a breath.
Now I feel gassy. Could this just be gas? If so, how do I get relief? Thanks!

hmmmm... I'm not sure. I know I have been having PTL due to yeast and BV and dehydration and just a plain irritable uterus.

I have no advice but to call your HCP and talk to them about it.

Could it be the position of the baby? Is he or she up behind your ribs? I know mine is now and she is leaving me out of breath all the time and feeling poopy a lot.

when pregnant w/ ds I would get what I think was gas high up in my stomach and it felt completely trapped. I couldn't seem to burp and it seemed unable to travel down. Often the pain got really bad and felt tight and radiated around my back (my ribs especially felt very tight and hurt like crazy). Mostly I just became very hesitant about anything carbonated or high carb, ate small meals, ate often (it seemed most likely to happen when I ate after too long of a stretch) and took a lot of baths which seemed to help. Also I ate a lot of Mylanta (w/ simethicone). Your descriptions sounds a lot like the same thing.

but, pain radiating around the back can be a sign of gallbladder problems. You may want to read about gallbladder symptoms and see if they meet your description.

I am having serious gas issues, and sometimes I do feel breathless, tight, and very uncomfortable. For me it is all about how well I eat and I need to totally avoid all sweeteners, white flour, potatoes, and almost all fruit. I do have lots of contractions, but except for one time around 19 weeks when I did have a UTI, nothing that has scared me.

I agree that talking about it with a helpful OB, or a midwife, would be a good idea. Such a person would know more about what it might indicate than the ER - although good for them for giving you advice that worked the first time! Pain in your back makes me think that a UTI w/kidney involvment ought to at least be ruled out.

Sounds like your gallbladder. Or gas.

I was having the same symptoms and just had and u/s to check my gallbladder.

When I had gas like that when I was pregnant with dd, homeopathic carbo veg really did the trick.
Hope you feel better.

thank you...

I had someone suggest gallbladder, I am considering seeing my doctor tomorrow to have it checked. I'm feeling the beginnings of pain now, and it's sorta a sufficating feeling~ like i can't take a deep breath. My diet is good today and I've had enough water so I'm ruling out constipation. If it is gas tho, is there anything I can take to help relieve it?

strong lavender tea helps me with gas. That and lying on my left side for a spell. Hope you figure it out soon.
