i think im suffering from ppd, i feel horrible! i experience these feelings like im here but not here is this depression or anxiety sometimes things feel unreal to me its really scary!!! please help anyone

i would definitely suggest finding a counselor to help you with this. It sounds like you are experiencing something called derealization, which is an anxiety symptom. It is also VERY TREATABLE.

How old is your child? have you shared how you are feeling with anyone around you? Perhaps they can help you find a counselor who has experience treating postpartum mood disorders.

I wouldn't hesitate to find help, the sooner you reach out the sooner you will recover from PPD/anxiety.

Postpartum Support International is a great starting point for finding help locally:

I definitely felt like I was going crazy too! PP is right, it is treatable just be diligent about getting the help you need! Get your partner on board with it too!!

i think the rule of thumb is that if you were actually going crazy, you would not realize it or believe it. so since you are really aware that something is "off," i would say you're pretty darn sane. just need a little extra help right now to get some balance back. hang in there mama!

thank you for the reassurance, im trying so hard to be patient! do you know how long the meds take to help? did any of you take meds for this? this is so scary!!!

i didn't have the exact same symptoms as you... i had mainly anxiety, insomnia and then depression. meds took a few weeks to a month to really provide relief for me.

I feel like I have read that therapy is crucial in treating the symptoms you are experiencing. Are you seeing a counselor of some sort?

hello there, i will be seeing a counslor soon! I have read that those feelings are due to anxiety but im not sure if that is completely true or maybe its from a more severe depression, as of right now i am clueless. my phychitrist told me that this is all pp and my hormones are really out of balance so the meds should help with that. I have been on meds for 9 days im trying to stay very optimistic. thanks for you support!!!!!
