Movie: My Sister's Keeper (Trailer talk) - Page 2

Gotta agree with the other ending haters here (and I have read many of her books b/c of my book club). I thought it was a total deus ex machina-- she wove a web she could not get her characters out of.

And it was a total evasion of a deep ethical dilemma.

Okay, I saw the movie because I heard they changed the ending I hated so much.

Yes, the movie has the logical ending.

My children have a life-threatening blood disease. My two oldest sons are from my first marriage and were sick as children much more than my youngest son. My youngest son is from my second marriage. It is a rare disease and the immunologist thinks my son may have had a transient form.

The thing is if you survive 20 years, only 64% do, then you get very sick when you are around 30 and have to have exensive, awful IVs every 3 weeks the rest of your life and may not be able to work. The older two are 29 and 26. I've been having IVs for 21 years and can't work. It makes the whole transplant issue a lot more personal. My one son has had a baby and he wasn't a match for me or my sons.

The song Carry You Home by James Blunt was a great choice for the movie.

I totally saw this coming! I have read a few of her books and she always throws something in at the end that makes you want to slit your wrists! I wasn't sure how or when it was going to happen, but I knew by the end of the third chapter that this was where it was going.
