Let's Go Raw!!!!

Thread Starter
I have completely fallen of the wagon and taken to living on pretzels.

I am going to challenge myself to go raw! I am going to aim for 95% raw. That will allow me to eat a few salad wraps, etc.

Anyone want to join me? You don't have to be 100%. You can do 50%, 90%, 25%, whatever. :

Who's in?

I'll try. I got a nanny job with a very not healthy family, and they're rubbing off on me rather than the other way around. I babysit in the afternoon and evenings, so I'm good for breakfast and lunch, but I lose it at dinner.

I'm in! This is something I've been working towards for a month or so... slowly incorporating more raw foods. I'm aiming now to have at least 2 completely raw days a week. See how that goes and try to increase from there...

Any resources for online (free) raw foods recipes??

TIA!

Yes! My goal is to be 100% in June! Right now I am drinking green veggie juice and doing green smoothies and feeling great! Dinner right now is usually guacamole with raw crackers.

Great! So we are on our way. Moonstarfalling, you will be our inspiration. :

I did OK today. I ate lots of raw carrots and salad. I didn put a salad in a tortilla though so that was cooked. I also hate some hummus. I am hungry now and want to make a smoothie, but the kiddos are sleeping...

I'm going to my first raw restaurant in Chicago this weekend! I'm so excited. I rarely make complicated raw treats at home. I hope I can stay 100% raw while on my trip.

Cool! :

I really want to go to the Raw Food for the Real World people's place in NY. I live close to it, but haven't been.

I am so enjoying all the fruit and greens again! It took a day to transition, but I am glad to be away from all the empty food!

Two days and going strong!
oh! So glad I found this thread...

I really have no intention of going 100% raw, but have been mostly raw for about a week and a half now. I started just trying to eliminate foods to figure out if anything was bothering my nursling (which I think just turned out to be reflux).

It's turned into a sort of experiment for me and I'm really excited. I make at least one green smoothie daily, lots of fruits and veggies, and I'll also do cooked rice (Oh! and meat - I'm not a vegetarian - hopefully nobody minds me posting here!). No dairy, gluten, eggs, soy, etc. though. I'm going to slowly add those back in to see how they affect me. I actually added wheat in today and am not feeling so hot - not sure if it's just a coincidence, but I'm taking it back out again and I just made myself a yummy green smoothie to sip

Thanks for starting the thread!
Maggie

I'm eating a salad now. I did cooked oats for breakfast, but will do raw, soaked tomorrow.

I'm thinking of doing a fast since I haven't been running anyway. Has anyone done a water fast?
The 24 hour water fast I did back in Feb was actually really easy. I think that's the only time I've done just water. I used to do rice fasts but was seriously starving my way through it. I didn't feel hungry once during my water fast. Weird!

I had some bread yesterday. Boo! I was out and starving and had forgotten to take snacks with me. I need to be more prepared!

For some reason I am having a hard time staying away from bread products and sweets now. I am thinking a fast will bump me back toward nutritious eating.

I am going to run tomorrow and ride on Sunday and start the fast Sunday night. I hope to continue it if I feel good until Friday. Then I will eat lightly through the weekend.

I am reading "Skinny B!^tch" and should join this thread. I haven't read anything more blatant and raw about the animals we eat. I'm not sure I will eat another animal again. I really want to lose weight and get healthy.

I have a friend who has peaked my interest in raw foods. I'd love to learn more from you all. Just by being aware of my choices I am eating raw more & more.

Someone tell me more about green smoothies. What do you put in them. Obviously anything green is healthy, but why green smoothies in particular?

I am trying to switch to a largely raw based diet. My biggest problem? My husband has a deadly allergy to all tree nuts That knocks a lot of really good recipes out the window for me!

mommystinch, check out Brendan Brasier. He is an vegan triathlete who eats a very low fat diet so his recipes have very few nuts. If you make his recipes all the time, you could just buy the ingredients he uses... I found I bought uncommon things for one recipe and never used then again though. His book is called the Thrive diets.

Green smoothies are just a tasty way to get a good amount of greens down. I don't like salads so drinking 4 cups of spinach is helpful. I have to put a banana in because it kills the green flavor. A second fruit is nice too. The kids usually drink blueberry, banana, spinach. I also feel like the nutrients are utilized better and faster in liquid form. I can feel the difference physically. Green juice even more so!

I'm going to join. I have fiddled with going raw for months usually fo pretty good but today I had PIZZA!!!! Don't feel great after eating that. I like to go all raw and then for dinner have something cooked like steamed veggies and brown rice Hard at times because DH isn't a healthy eater at all!!!

I like lots of smoothies as well. Kale chips are another fave!

what's your recipe for kale chips?
