Let's Go Raw!!!! - Page 3

Hey ladies! I'm glad I found some raw folks on here!
I'm currently 95% raw. I go back and forth between about 85-100%, depending on what's going on with me that month. I feel best at 100% though.

Today so far:
oranges
plum
nectarine
raw brownie

after today, I plan to do mostly smoothies for the rest of the week.

I loved it when I was raw for awhile. I actually did not have to use deodorant because I did not smell as bad. There are many benefits to raw and I need to start back. I could use the encouragement so I am going to start before the end of the week.

Does anyone look at Alissa Cohen? She has a great DVD on this and good selections of starter dishes that are relatively simple.

I absolutely LOVE her recipe book "Living on Live food" and her website is great!! I don't have her DVD, but I do have the one from Jennifer Cornbleet and it's great!! I will warn you about her website, they advocate 100% raw and IMO it's not always easy to do when going out and about. Of course, I could just pack my food all the time, but sometimes that gets tiring, KWIM??

At this point, I'm about 80+% raw. I eat hummus almost daily lately and sometimes, I want something cooked for dinner as I seem to get bored with salads... When I was 100% raw (last month for a 30 day challenge) I seemed to be adding too many nut pates and nut sauces. Sometimes I just want brown rice and some steamed broccoli. I figure as long as I'm not eating Oreos and crappy processed foods, I'm doing well!!

Joining even though i'm not always 100% raw

I eat fruit smoothies for breakfast with brown rice protein powder, lots of nuts, avocados, seaweed, salad greens, seeds, veggies, and sometimes quinoa thrown in. I also do raw bars (I know some believe they aren't technically raw)
I am finding a good balance with getting enough fat, calories and protein now and am feeling really good. I have been vegetarian all of my life and vegan off and on, throughout. In the past, I had trouble keeping my weight up while eating raw but I think I have figured out the right mix for my body now

Anyone take supplements? I tested low for D and A. I take a B complex, a veg multi, veg D, and C these days.

I have Alissa's book. It's great, especially if you are just starting out!

Jazzharmony, I'm not taking any supps right now. At times when my diet is not what it should be, I will take a multi or B12.

Hmmm, I think it's a mental thing.
Just like I know I feel best and am at my best at 100% raw, yet I will sometimes eat something that I don't even want.
Why? Habit, emotional cravings, etc
Seriously, if I'm about to eat something that's going to make me feel bad, now I talk to myself to see exactly why I want to eat it.

Had my 1st green smoothie in a while this morning & then went to the store to stock up on fruit so I can start making them more regularly again. the kids loved it too.

I think I get burnt out on eating several pieces of fruit, veggies & a few handfulls of nuts. I feel like I need a 'meal' so to speak. I am not trying to be completely raw, I just want to eat raw more often & I think this would help alot. Can anyone recommend some recipes or websites that have good recipes? I am open to anything, bars, salads etc... Also I have a Vita Mix that does not get used nearly enough, any suggestions besides the green smoothies?

I STINK...

Is there any reason why eating raw foods (Im not 100%, but have been probably 60-80% for about a month) would suddenly make my armpits unbearably stinky???? It's literally just happened today - I even took a shower about an hour ago because it was so annoying, and I think I'm already starting to stink up again!

What's happening? Is it a sort of detox or something? I'm nursing, so have tried to do things gradually as to not affect my little nursling...

Any ideas???

Mmm. I love green smoothies!
I have some raw recipes on my blog
http://andeverything-in-between.blog...Living%20Foods

There are some meal type recipes there. I totally know what you mean.
I get that way raw or not. Most of my day is spent grazing, so it's nice to have a complete meal every now and again.

It never happened to me, but I have read of several raw foodies turning stinky during detox. It's a good thing to get all that out of your body.
If you stick with raw, your body odor will really decrease. Most days I don't even wear deodorant and when I do, it's my homemade concoction.
What was your diet like before going raw? If raw is a real big change, I think you will have a more intense detox period.

Thanks for the link cocoanib. I'm going to do the avocado hummus. I've been eating guacamole every night for dinner for quite a while so I should mix it up a bit. I had raw hummus at a restaurant last week and I don't know how it was made but it was bleh! I wasn't impressed with anything we had there. Okay no their flax crackers were good.

I to have not been impressed with any raw hummus i've tried
sad because i LOVE hummus. I eat tons of avocado to it's so easy and versatile along with filling. It's really good mushed up with lemon, sea salt, red bell pepper, and carrots(shredded). Also do you have a dehydrator?

Ok I keep posting lol my last one for a bit
Today i'm traveling to Fl so it should be interesting to see how I do eating wise. So far I've had a vegan blueberry muffin and a few raspberries. I put 2 nectarines, a baggies with blueberries and raspberries, and 2 raw bars in my carry on. I hope that holds me over. What do you all do while traveling?
It's going to be rough not having my beloved vitamix for 2 weeks

I am always looking for new recipes so I'll take anything, but I'd really love some raw recipes.

I also got a dehydrator today for $10 on Craigslist. : What are your favorite things to dehydrate? I plan to do some kale chips & apples.

For a dehydrator: raw granola! Yummy. I need to make some. I just throw in whatever I have. Soaked oat groats, almonds, sunflower, sesame.

I also like to make raw crackers. I get a lot of my recipes here.

These mushroom pizzas are great dehydrated a bit.

I'm a hummus lover too!
The first raw hummus I tried had to do with soaked chic peas. Man, was it horrible!
I've also tried the raw hummus from Leaf cuisine and that wasn't for me either.
I think you're really gonna love the avo hummus recipe. Try different variations with the hummus using the zuchinni as a base.
Olives, sundrieds, pretty much anything is so good with it!
Awww man, now I want some and I'm sitting here at work

OMG! I am going to be making all kinds of raw crakers & stuff from that site. Thanks!
