Birth Announcements?

Anyone else mailing out announcements to relatives and friends? Where are you buying yours? DD is almost 3 weeks old so I'm kind of rushing to get them now...but holy cow!! They're so expensive!!! Mostly I've been looking at Shutterfly and TinyPrints...I do want them to look nice (we did DD1's at Walgreens and they were GHASTLY), but jeez. We'll be sending out about 50 and so far most places seem to be very close to $2/piece if not more.

Any ideas? Online please...I have to be able to do it from home. ;-)

thanks!!

I did winkflash for mine. We didn't need many, but I bought half of two different kinds. Some were more expenses. Half of the ones I got were and I ended up loving the 23 cent ones! If you want a pic, you need to start with a decent one, but then they print them right on the card. I can take pics of mine, if you like. They have a lot of differemt templates and options. Shipping was the highest at like $7 and change, but it was worth it.

Also, I bought "photo cards" for some of mine. I ended up buying the other folding ones b/c it said they came with envelopes. Well, the photo cards ending up coming with them, too and those were the ones that I preferred.

My SIL designed ours and I plan to upload them as a regular pic to shutterfly or mpix for prints. I've seen some online for $1.29 or so, but yeah, $2 is alot! This site has tons of cute ones for less than $2: http://www.photoaffections.com/baby-...ouncements-c-5

Vistaprint might have something that would work, too.

I just went to Vistaprint and they have announcements fairly cheap. Most were 10 for $8.99 and envelopes were another $4. I haven't decided what I will do yet.

I ordered mine with my baby pics at the hospital.

Have you thought about maybe designing your own? I'm not sure how that would work though.

I got mine from kodakgallery.com yesterday. It was 8.99 for a set of 10 w/ envelopes and they have a 25% off father's day special right now. So I got 40 for $34.

I did ours at home myself. If you have photoshop or a similar program and know how to use it, most announcements are pretty simple and getting something you designed printed is generally much cheaper than ordering pre-made ones. I think ours cost me about 10 cents each. Postage ended up being more than the announcements and envelopes combined.
