I would file a formal complaint with the office, the AAP, anyone and everyone who would listen and I would consider filing charges. This man needs to be stopped.
I agree with you!

One of the reasons I won my suit against the CNMs was because I was screaming NOOOOO and they assaulted me anyway. You might have a case if you can find someone willing to take it.

if you like the doctor otherwise i would do two things. first of all i would no longer remove the diaper during visits.. or you can hover and make sure he doesn't touch his penis.

the second thing i would do ... and this is important. is confront this doctor about disregarding you instructions. whether or not he agrees with you is moot. you do not want him to do it and therefore he should not do it. if this is not something he can understand then you might need to find a new doctor. a really good doctor would respect you wishes in regards to your child.

he is wrong. i would consider asking him why is disregarding all current recommendations about foreskin health. show him the information and ask him to explain himself. he probably will not like this. it is my favorite part.

you could always tell him that if he does it again you will sue him for assault. he might make you leave the practice then though.

i see no reason for a doctor to touch a baby's penis during an exam, unless there was a specific problem. i don't know why he feels the need to "teach" you how to clean it. touching like that is kind of like poking a baby in the eyes, there is no reason to do it. i'd think that attempting to retract the foreskin while it is still adhered would cause many problems.

So sorry mama. It's awful to not have your wishes respected.

While suing sounds like a suggestion from others, it's not a route I would take. Unless you can prove that damage was done (yes, I know there is the potential damage with retraction) that has resulted in expense to you or serious mental anguish to your son, you just won't win. I always mention stories like this to my DH (an attorney who has worked with lots of medical malpractice cases), he repeatedly explains to me how it works and why even though it makes me furious, no money would actually be awarded. You will have much better success filing complaints. s:

I agree. I hope you are able to find a new doctor for your baby whom you can trust, and who will respect you as the parent. A doctor should never overstep his bounds by doing something which is explicitly declined by the parent, and he blatantly did this when he examined your son. Maybe someone really needs to put him in his place (education wise) regarding this kind of issue. If he did this to your son without your consent, what is he doing to other kids?

yeah i'd agree. considering pulling back the foreskin to clean a child is not advocated anywhere, i don't know why he feels it necessary.

on a side note: there seems to be a lot of parents who have had trouble with doctors trying to retract foreskin...i was born in 1986, i really hope that wasn't done to me when i was a baby. :
