Double Coupons?

Okay this has always bugged me. How do you get away with using two coupons for one item? I have seen people on Oprah that do this (that coupon mom) and others. But all the coupons I get say only ONE per purchase! Is this new? Did you used to be able to use two? I have never done coupons before, this week will be my second time. Educate me.

One way to do it is to combine a store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon.

Some stores double manufacter coupons. In some locations nobody doubles, some places nearly everybody doubles. Where I live one store has very limited doubleling (one day per week only so many).

The only way to use two coupons for one item is to pair a store coupon with a manufacture's coupon.

Target, Walgreeens, grocery stores, etc will often put out their own coupons and it will say on it that it's a store coupon. Then you can stack/ pair that coupon with one from a manufacturer.

This is the only legal way to stack coupons.

Most of the time when people say double coupons, it means that the grocery store will double the value of the manufacturer's coupon. For example Kroger grocery stores double up to $1. So if your manufacturer coupon is for .50 off, the store will double it and give you an additional .50 off for a total savings of $1.

Oh my gosh. I guess our grocery stores just don't do that. I'll have to double check... but I don't think so. We only have Jewel and Dominick's here... both quite expensive, and I am still trying to pare down our budget with not much success.

around here our grocery stores all double coupons up to $1. and i've had great luck doing the 'stacking' at target......although only on stuff i would have bought anyway.

i've just thrown myself into the 'couponing world' as well, and i've done pretty well so far. consistently saving anywhere from $25-$50 per week....which isn't a ton, but it adds up! i'm not going to sneeze at $100-$200 per month! i've had great success finding coupons on ebay for the products we use, that i never seem to be able to find in the newspaper, etc. things like organic eggs, butter, milk.

good luck!

What others have said. It's a mfg coupon and a store coupon.

My Dillon's (a Kroger store) doubles coupons. But Hy-Vee does not.

Doubling coupons & stacking them are very different things.

Doubling is, like pps said, where the store will double the value of a coupon up to a certain point. I live in the land of no doubling, so I feel your pain. I get so jealous hearing of places that will double a coupon's worth. Makes those 25c off coupons sooooo much more valuable.

Stacking Coupons can be done ANYWHERE. Each store sends out their own coupons. For example, on a Target coupon it will say Target coupon on the top in the black bar. If it's a manufacturer's coupon, it will say so on the black bar. You are allowed to use both on each item. Also, you can use multiple coupons in one transaction. So, for example, say you had 3 target store coupons for laundry detergent and three manufacturer's coupons for the same detergent. You are allowed to use all 6 coupons in the same transaction.

Where do you live? It is completely a regional thing(mostly eastern US) or larger cities. Where I live they don't double coupons, that is just that. So I can't get the super smokinest deals like they do.

I do however save nearly 50% every. single. shopping. trip because of coupons. Combined with sales and coupons I get soooooo much more food for my money than I used to. My $8 a week to buy papers is worth it.

If you want really great coupon info got to http://www.hotcouponworld.com/index.php or http://www.afullcup.com/ both are awesome resources with people who know your store and what you can do at those stores. The Safeway(Dominick's) threads are very helpful. Also you can load your shopper's card(dominicks) from some sites and get more coupons right on your card. Stacking store and manufacturer's coupons can get you a large bang for your buck, plus then there are Catalinas and other ways to get coupons-once you get good at it it can be really addicting. The 2 sites I linked can explain all this info-it can be overwhelming.

I've been hardcore couponing for about a year now and I am really getting to a point of it being truly awesome. I have nearly all my diapers for my coming baby bought for pennies, most at a cost of .11 a diaper. I know many CD and I have some of those too, but I am planning to do both.

Anyway my DH thinks I rock and is always impressed with my super couponing. He's shopped with me a few times and was amazed at how much I saved. It is average 50-60%. Good luck.
