My son has his first round of testing tomorrow morning for admittance to our gifted school and a possible grade skip.

I, of course, plan to make sure he gets to bed early and gets plenty of sleep. What would you feed your LO for breakfast to help him focus and do his best on the assessment?

(We have no special dietary needs - accept that our family don't eat poultry due to my husband's allergies - but I don't consider that an issue for breakfast)

A balanced meal with lots of protein!! Fish oil supplements and lecithin maybe?

Plenty of fat and protein and little to no grains/starches. Scrambled eggs or an omelette with meat, cheese and some veg is a great breakfast for when you need a clear head. Skip the hashbrowns and the toast though.

Well the teacher said he did a great job focusing and paying attention both days. I wondered about the first day. I peaked in and he was fidgeting and bouncing around so bad that I thought there was no way he was focused. But she said he did great. That day was the ability portion.

The second day was the achievement portion. That was today. This morning, we went about 1/2 hour early and we played at the playground to get the wiggles out before the second session. Once again she said he did great. I noticed less fidgeting the few times I looked in.

She'll score the evaluations today and send the results on. Then I'll meet with either the principle of the gifted school or the district gifted coordinator to go over the results later this week or next week.

We had scrambled eggs with ham and cheese both mornings. The evening before the first testing session we had salmon for dinner and blueberries and raspberries on shortcake for desert. Nothing special for dinner last night.
