do you get dressed? - Page 3

I tend to dress pretty slouchy. I wear sweats a lot. I try to comb my hair when I go out, and I wear a bra in public. And I try to wear clothes that look clean enough.
That's me, too. I always get dressed when I get up. Some days "getting dressed" = changing my nightgown for a shirt & throwing on socks. Most days I put on sweats, too. It was jeans, but I don't have any that fit me right now.

Am I alone? Is this weird and terrible? DO I need to start dressing myself? I don't want to set a bad example for dd!
I do the exact same thing.

My favorite pair of pants are plaid purple/pink PJ pants. They're bright and bold. Perfect with a tshirt and hoodie on the go I have 3 jammie pants and 2 sweat pants that I wear loyally all the time. DD usually looks pretty cute though. I usually don't wear make-up and my hair is usually up in a pony. Most of the time, I have no desire to put any effort into looking good. I'm just too tired and I don't care

But I personally feel horrible staying in my jammies. Maybe I just need a clear, defined start to my day or something. But if I dont' get fully dressed, hair up, and make my bed, something just feels "off" the whole day.
Yup.

What is considered "dressed"? For me, yoga pants, jeans, t-shirt, etc. is being dressed. Along with combing my hair. I take a bath at night before I go to bed as part of my bedtime routine. I only shower during the day when I need to wash my hair. Maybe once or twice a week, depending on time of year. I don't do makeup. Never have. I have dress pants for when I go into work (3 days a week) but I wear the same tops/shirts to work as I do at home. I'd wear jeans to work, if I could. At home, I'm mostly barefooted. But the shoes I wear at work are the same ones I wear to run errands.

I get dressed when we leave the house or people are coming over. I change when I get an amount of snot, poop, pee or puke on me that I'm just not comfortable sporting. That's only into more pjs though!

This is me. I have to make a conscious effort to change into "nighttime" clothes at the end of the day. I'm a "tank top, jeans, sandals" kind of person, definitely on the casual side, but I do have to be wearing clothes that I can go out in public in, and that don't make me feel or look sloppy.

I find that wearing clothes that make me feel AND look good has a big effect on my daily energy levels.

Exactly! I put my hair in a bun or pony first thing in the morning, and am barefoot or in socks at home, with nice yoga pants, bra, and tank top. Then even if just popping out to the market I change everything but the bra. Then put on cute shoes, fix hair, and apply a little make-up. I find that I greet the world with a wider smile and more open attitude if I look put together.

I get dressed even if we are staying at home. I find that it helps me feel more awake and ready to face the day. It also makes leaving the house easier on the days we do have to go somewhere because dressing is part of our routine rather than a sign that we are leaving to go on an errand.

I have to be pretty sick to not get dressed. Like a PP, getting dressed signals the start of the day. In fact it's a little weird on weekends when the kids come downstairs with just their PJs on. I don't say anything of course, it just bugs me for some strange reason. *G*

It totally depends on the day.

Monday-wed dd has play school in the AM, so we get up and dressed because I like to look somewhat presentable. lol. thurs and friday we go to play groups in the morning so i do get changed but sometimes just into clean sweatpants so i dont feel so grungy lol. I also often wear yoga pants and a clean white shirt. but often I will get dressed to get my day going, then dress back down at nap time so i can be comfy when i lie with dd- her nap time is also my low energy time of the day so i tend to relax then. I especially do this if I have gotten really dressed up for an appointment or something because I'm just not comfy wearing dress pants all day.

weekends or days when we dont make it to play group or play school it totally depends- i don't sleep in pj's, usually just a tshirt and sweatpants. So if I get up and have a dirty chore like a bunch of dishes from the night before and I'm going to get dirty anyway, or just feel like lounging around for the morning, i dont get dressed right away. but i do like to get dressed for some part of the day- dp's home on weekends and i dont want to look like a slob

I have home clothes and going out clothes ... so yeah, I get dressed, but not to the same level that I would were anyone but family to be seeing me.

I never wear shoes at home though. The whole Fly Lady "get dressed to lace-up shoes every morning" thing would drive me nuts.

My DD is the 4 YO fashion coordinator in our house. I have started dressing much better because she loves being fancy and she encourages me to get dressed up.

I have a complete wardrobe of comfy presentable clothes(Old Navy roll skirts, gauchos, t-shirts). I feel really lame if I still am in my wake up clothes, unless they are my ones that are acceptable to wear in public. I used to be a hairstylist, so I feel the need still to make myself look a little bit nice, even if it is just for my DD and DH.

I always wear tinted moisturizer and mascara, even if I am staying home. I look asleep otherwise.

There are days when I don't get dressed. Well, actually, I always change out of my PJs, so I guess technically I do get dressed, but I mean sometimes I just put on "lounging around the house" clothes. Most days, though, I shower and put on a "real" outfit.

I've found that our days just go more smoothly if I'm up and fully ready to leave the house first thing in the morning. Even if we end up hanging around the house for the morning, I just seem to be more engaged, and if we do get the impulse to go somewhere it's nice to just be able to grab the bag and take off instead of having to go wash up and get dressed first.

I might feel differently if I liked the way I looked in my lounge-around clothes. I see some mamas out and about in cute little gym suits, but I feel like a schlub in mine, so they're strictly at-home clothes for me.

Yes, I need to get dressed, or I feel really lazy and won't get anything done. We have a small farm, and have our cow that needs to get milked 2x a day, and I won't do that in my jammies!!

I put jeans and a plain, colored t-shirt on every morning. I usually wear flipflops, and I keep them by the door so I can slip them on on the way out. I always wear mineral makeup and mascara and earrings, and I brush my hair (!). If I'm going somewhere other than just up to the store, etc, I'll stick on a couple of bracelets or beads or something that makes me feel a little more put-together, or I'll switch the jeans for linen pants.
I used to think that I'd be saving money if I didn't put makeup on every day, but I really just felt so slobby that I was miserable! I don't wear much makeup, but I do put it on every day.

I do childcare in my home, so I feel like I should be ready for the day when parents arrive to drop off their kids. So, most mornings, I get up and shower and get dressed. I don't drink much caffeine, so taking a shower is like my morning coffee, signaling the beginning of a new day. Now, if we've had a really bad night, I'll sleep in and throw on some sweats before they get here.
