Best brush for a lab?

I realize this is such a simple question. It really shouldn't be that hard, right?

So tell me what brush you love for your lab please! We have a new puppy and the one the breeder suggested isn't working on the puppy coat.

I bought one of those furmerators for my Eskies....bad mistake! So, I gave it to my friend who has a lab and is also the director of our local humane society. She loves it and not only uses it on her dogs, but took it to work to brush all of the lab type dogs there and has had great success!

be careful with furminators on short haired dogs. They are not really a brush, but a clipper blad on a handle. They work well for deshedding, but you can easily give a dog brush burn or bald spots with one

I have a lab, and what I use is a rubber type brush made by Kong. I really like it, to look at it you wouldnt think it does a good job but it does.
I wouldnt use a slicker as you could end up scratching your dogs skin.

I was thinking of the slicker more for when they are molting or for very thick coated labs. Some get those chunks of fur coming out that need a bit more grab that a rubber brush IMO

We have a lab and use a furminator on her during shedding season. Other than that the she gets a bath. That tends to take care of loose hair and the stinky waterproof oil around the neck.

The shedding blade works wonders on our lab. It doesn't look like it would do the trick, but it is amazing. Labs shed A LOT. And he likes the feel of this one too.... doesn't try to run away!!

Thank you for all the replies! I think I'll look for the kong product for everyday use and a shedding blade for when he's really shedding.
