Rhogam?

I know that Rhogam is now considered thimerosal free- no thimerosal used as a preservative.

Does anyone know if thimerosal/methylmercury or any type of mercury derivative is used in the manufacturing/creation of Rhogam?

I have read that while vaccines are now considered thimerosal free (even if they have just a trace), many of them still use thimerosal or mercury derivatives when they process the vaccine and just filter it out. This allows them to say that the vaccine is mercury/thimerosal free because they are not using it as a preservative anymore. The problem is, if mercury is used in the making of the vaccine, it binds to the proteins in the vaccine and can't be completely filtered out.

I don't know if this is the case with Rhogam- I know there's no mercury/thimerosal added as a preservative, but I can't find anything that indicates whether it's used (or not) when it's being made. The best I can find is that there is some sort of chemical 'washing' while it's being made so that it can eliminate potential viruses (because it is derived from human blood)- but I don't think that necessarily means mercury or mercury derivatives are involved.

Thanks.

I'd look at the package insert. It will tell you if there is any mercury in it. I'd also check for increased aluminum and other neurotoxins.

research all aspects of ingredients for sure(not just Thimerosol)......all I can say is, in my own experience......
I had a Level II U/S the same day i had my Rhogam & all was good. My next Level II (I was having twins) 4 weeks later, one of my babies had a brain bleed.
