what are tie nappies for?

I was just looking at a picture of one and I think they are so cute. You still need a cover over it though, is it just another means of fastening a diaper? An alternative to pins or snappy? Does anyone recommend them? Could they be used on a toddler without a cover, for around the house? I like to let my dd go coverless when we're home so I can change her as soon as she's wet, maybe they'd be good for that? I'd love to know more about them. They're sooo cute!

The one lady I know who used them loved them. I think you can get supersoft wool ones that only get moist not wet on the outside. And they apparently fit all the way through toddler.

I have been using tie diapers for a while and love them. They are really soft around a baby's legs, and leave no marks. My biggest frustration with PF's and fitteds are the marks left on my LO's thighs.

I stuff mine with a PF - I lay it down tri-folded inbetween the two layers, and that gets us through the night. Untying the strings is sometimes pretty nasty, depending on how wet they are.

I wouldn't necessarily suggest running around without a cover, as it could get a little droopy. I guess you could do this if you changed them often. But if you get a Disana butt sweater to go with it, this is one kick-butt system. I have 4 wool covers and a couple pairs of overalls. The overalls are really cute!
