I'm trying to keep the slugs from eating my strawberries. I just now dug a few shallow holes & placed small bowls in them so the bowl edges are at ground level. I filled them most of the way with beer. But here are my questions!
How do I water? Any watering I do will just dilute the beer out of the bowls. Do you cover your bowls every time you water?
When do I check them for slugs? Every morning? And then what? Do I just toss out every bowl of beer with the slugs & refill them all? I'll go through sooo much beer that way! (I'm using my DH's homebrewed good stuff right now, too! I'll have to get some cheap crap in a can...).
Does this shallow bowl half buried in the dirt sound like the best way? I see others that just set out shallow pans of beer. Does that work as well? That'd be easier for me to manage than keeping my little holes dug.
I read online that instead of beer you can just mix yeast, honey & water together instead of using beer. Has anyone tried this?
Thanks so much for your advice!
