Opps you were talking about the first one. That is crazy. And it does the same thing at the 4' range. My DD is 4'10. Hehe.

Havent read any other posts expect the first yest but let me say WIC is STUPID when it comes to growth charts they once said my DD was "approaching obese" THe same girl who was once FTT. And what did she look like at the time?

(Sorry, don't really trust their needles...you never know!)
I just wanted to note that when I worked at WIC, the finger poking needles were used once and thrown away.

Well... how large a frame do you have to have before you get to obese on that thing? I would have to gain 65 lbs and I am an average frame, 5-inch wrist, shorter than average, and within the limits of normal weight.

Frankly, not that I think this is an issue w/the OP's daughter, and I DO agree that we have a worse risk of eating disorders because we are obsessed with obesity, but still- I think as a society we are used to seeing people who are overweight and a lot of people and kids are overweight and do not know it.

That is not a reason to make people paranoid, though. A focus on real food (not exactly WIC's speciality and exercise would be much better.

That's for a limited time only-organic milk will no longer be available after Oct. 1.

I did do the BMI kids calculator and it does say my DD is "overweight"-I think that calling an active 3 y/o overweight is pretty much ridiculous.

What do I know though? I just am her mother and live with her every. single. day. I must have no clue what is going on.:

Y/K the thing that bugs me is that on her growth chart she has consistently been the same her whole life. Her Dr has never batted an eye at her height/weight-on average they have bounced back and forth between eachother. One time she's tall and her weight is lower, the next time vice-versa. I think the whole thing is a sham.

When I asked for it without dressing I was told I could learn to eat like a normal person.

Schools also cover their version of ranch dressing. Is it any wonder it is always tossed in the garbage? I don't understand this. I think if they would just serve it without dressing kids would eat it. I know mine would.
Me too! I hated dressings (until I discovered vinaigrettes in adulthood). I always ate my salad plain. Luckily, my dad grew up on a farm and really loved raw veggies, so we got a lot of those - yum! My DH was only offered canned green beans or corn as a veggie - ewww.

I hate most any salad dressing but also grew up not using any except occasionally some cottage cheese. It was a huge treat for my mother to load up two salteen crackers with cottage cheese from her salad with dinner for me.

My D will eat the greens of salad (spinach lettuce ect) if I use lots of croutons

I can't image a life without fresh fruit! My grammy on my mom's side also grew up on a farm and she made the BEST salads. She got a whole bunch of different veggies and chopped them really really small. So that every bite had a lot of different flavors in it. She never added dressing to it. She would make a big batch of it and would put it with/on everything, like sandwiches for instance. It was so cute and good

like salad salsa

This is how I love to make salads not sure where I learned it as we have the lettuce toamto type growing up but even as a kid I'd do this when I could. Sadly my DH and DD disagree and its like ohh heck whats is this is this a pepper oh okay wait is this squash you know I hate squash eww and honey where is the dressing. DD while seh hates dressing also hates "colors to touch"

LOL they said she was approaching obese? She look pretty long and thin to me.
It's all messed up, I'm not even going to bother with their charts any more. I'll continue to nod and smile and I'll ask questions if I get concerned.
Her doc laughed at me when I asked about her being too heavy. Same when I asked about Ds#2. I just know he's about to explode in height again, he looks a bit heavy to me, he always looks like that before a growth spurt. Last time he lost 10lbs and gained 2 inches over the summer. (he's 15 now)

GRrrrrrr! I had a friend say to me of then 18 month old dd, "She sure likes to eat- you're gonna have to watch that someday" This despite the fact that we fed her no processed food (at the time)! I hate the whole weight thing.

You're going to have to watch that? Watch what? Someone who enjoys food? Boy - that's pretty bad. Maybe we should just have people's taste buds removed at birth, just in case they like to eat! *gasp of horror*

People make my head hurt.
