Are there any? Or any herbal combinations that help with anxiety? I have been having panic attacks for the past week or so and something's gotta give...i think i need something until my life is not so crazy anymore...baby is 8 months old and this could be a reason we wean soon and id really really hate to do that if there's anything i can do. But I can't live like this.

yes, many meds are safe for BFing. ativan and other benzodiazepines are safe in small quantities. not sure about xanax, but you could check hale's. and zoloft, which is excellent for resolving anxiety on a more long-term basis, is extremely safe.

you don't have to wean, and you also don't have to keep feeling like this! you deserve help.

I know the fast acting ones are not. But if you wanted a long term preventative med.... i'm not sure. I don't know much about them. I know there's a website you can check them all out on and see how safe they are. I think Katie mom? Idk the name for sure. Someone help me out here!

Yes, the fast acting ones ARE. Ativan is fine while breastfeeding, and is often prescribed for people while they are getting on something like zoloft, until the zoloft kicks in.

Xanax is also fine, but Ativan is preferred.

i take xanax and have been assured that it's fine by my dr. she was saying something about how if you're on a low dose, the amount that actually comes through the milk is so miniscule that it wouldn't really effect a baby.

i trust her. my dd is 21 months old and quit napping at 18 months. 18 months! my son napped until he was 3! i'd think if the xanax had any effect on her she'd be tired all the time, kwim?
