I'm quickly running out of ideas for my 7 yo DD, in spite of the fact that I work at a library (it's a very small rural library and even the gals I work with in the children's dept. are running out of ideas). I've done a search here to see if I could find old posts about this, and I did find some, but not really for this age. Any and all ideas appreciated. TIA!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

My DD is 7 and a voracious reader.
Recently she has read....
Just Grace series (by Charise Mericle Harper)
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (by Jeff Kinney)
Royal Diaries books (from the Dear America series)
a few American Girl series (Kaya, Addy)
Choose Your Own Adventure books
American Girl Mystery series (a little longer and more advanced than the first series about each girl)
Catmagic (by Holly Webb, there are others in the series too)
She also is very into fairy tales and mythology, so I've been getting books with Greek and Norse myths and also The Rainbow Fairy Book by Andrew Lang

DS is 7. He's into space right now, so reading an Usborne book on Astronomy, a book about the voyager mission, and a book about Neptune. He's also reading Nate the Great mysteries, and loves the Martha Speaks books.
We joined the library summer reading program where he gets points for reading books, for attending library programs, and for answering online questions the library posts each week. If he gets 25 points, he gets a free paperback book

Banning is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Just poked my head in to kiss her goodnight, and discovered that DD7 is reading Stuart Little with a flashlight under her covers. LOL
Even though we don't homeschool anymore, I've found that the literature-based curriculums have some pretty good reading lists. There are also lots of good reading lists here:

Thanks for the ideas everyone! Goosebumps are too scary for her, so those are out. As are Spiderwick Chronicles, and a Series of Unfortunate Events. Dd is very sensitive to spooky stuff so she likes only books that are upbeat. In fact, the Katie Kazoo Witch Switch book she could read only during the day.
In the past year she's been through Magic Treehouse, Rainbow Fairy (all of them from the Pet to Weather to Jewel Fairies), Katie Kazoo (just finished these), and a few others like that. I checked out Mrs. Piggle Wiggle for her, but she has those on CD and so enjoys listening to them being read that she was reluctant to read them herself. She really likes series, so I am looking for titles that have at least 4 or 5 of the same theme.
I will take the list I've compiled to work today and check out the books mentioned here.
Anne - that was an awesome link! I like the "BooksAlike" link from that page. Especially since you can adjust the reading level. Dd was blowing through 3 or 4 Katie Kazoo books at the end, so I think those are getting too easy for her and I was able to use those as an example, but bump up the reading level to get some ideas!
Thanks again, everyone. Keep them coming!

If she likes Rainbow Magic, I think the newest series, the Dance Fairies, just came out.
There is also a Flower Fairies series:
http://www.amazon.com/Zinnias-Magica...4210916&sr=1-2
Another similar series are the Fairy Realm books by Emily Rodda, although those are longer and a bit harder reading level.
There is also the Tinkerbelle fairy series by Gail Carson Levine. Much, much better than what you'd expect from something based on Tinkerbelle.
This is the same author of Ella Enchanted and Fairest.
http://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Quest-Ca...4210869&sr=8-6
Has she read the Mercy Watson series by Kate DiCamillo? Very funny and terrific illustrations.

Ds is in 2nd grade and is majorly into series:
Chapter books from Arthur and the Magic School Bus (yeah, I know they're linked to TV, but they're not awful).
The Boxcar children
Dragon Slayers Academy (less scary than the Magic Tree House books)
Secrets of Droon (about as scary as the Magic Tree House books)
Beverly Cleary books
Other suggestions for series books that we've read
Ramona books (Beverly Cleary)
The Mouse & the Motor Cycle series (there are only 3) by Beverly Cleary
The Littles
A to Z mysteries (we've read all those and my kids do OK with them)
Lois Lowry's: All about Sam, Attaboy Sam, and See You Around Sam (Lois Lowry also has a series of books about Sam's older sister, Anastasia, but from reading 1-2 of those, I think the themes are better suited to a 9-10 year old as Anastasia is in middle school).
Besty & Tacy/Besty, Tacy & Tib (these are ancient and I don't know how well they've aged)
The Bobbsey Twins (also ancient, don't know how well they've aged, but I liked them as a child)
ones that we haven't read, but the 7-8 year old girls I know like:
Junie B. Jones
Cam Jansen
And finally: Links to 2 other threads about books:

Another series she read recently was All of a Kind Family by Sydney Taylor. Very sweet and gentle, although a bit dated.
Other fantasy type series....
Moongobble and Me by Bruce Coville
Jane and the Dragon
Time Warp Trio (Magic Treehouse-ish, kids use a book to travel in time)
Similar in vein to Junie B., but much better (IMO), are the books by Mary McDonald...Judy Moody and the separate series about her little brother Stink.
Also Cynthia Rylant has two lovely series, the Cobble Street Cousins and The Lighthouse Family.

Subbing!
DD7 is finishing a Series of Unfortunate Events-- I was just about to start a thread about that!
She usually reads on her own, and she picks things like that (but you said too scary for your DD; even DD won't read it in bed). At night we've been reading together, and when she picks books, she loves goofy books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the rest of the series. There is a LITTLE of the whole "middle school vibe" but the most I had to explain was what gangs are . . .it's harmless on the whole and pretty funny.
Now, when I pick books, I pick things like The 100 Dresses (super fast read but it made me cry). A series your DD may like (also a fast read) is by Thornton Burgess. We just bought (you can get good deals on these) Collier's Junior Classics
and it has a lot of variety-- will keep your DD occupied for awhile!
And then, there's always non-fiction . . .my DD likes those fact books (like with world records) and last year her favorite book was Oh, Yuck! I bought her the history one (Oh, Yikes) but I would SKIP that for your DD . . .it's one thing for science to be gross, but gross history = disturbing. (Of course, DD liked it.
