How do you use virgin coconut oil?

Can I sub it for olive oil? Can I use it as a skin moisturizer? Do you sub it for butter also? I love the taste of shredded coconut and I have been lurking here to find that many use coconut oil. I would like to try this and I read that it is better for your health. Also, is it better to buy at Whole Foods or online?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I use it in place of butter or vegetable oil when I bake, in smoothies and spreads, for roasting squash, sweet potatoes, or carrots, and for saute. It is definitely better to buy online.
Wilderness Family Naturals, Tropical Traditions, and Mountain Rose Herb Farm are popular sources.

You can use it on your skin, but since I started eating coconut oil, I don't need a topical moisturizer - it works from the inside out!

I use it for pretty much anything that calls for butter or oil. I have sauteed veggies in it and they are yummy! My favorite is to substitute half of the butter in chocolate chip cookies with coconut oil and use rapadura for the sugar. So delicious!

I get mine either from Azure Standard or through www.iherb.com

At Iherb, enter promo code TIN857 for $5 off your first order. I love this site for supplements and some health foods. They even had my DivaCup for $18! Their prices rock and shipping is $4 flat-rate or free over $40.

in cooking when a need a fat (replace butter and/or oils)

as a spread on my toast with some raw honey

and a skin moisturizer, sunburn care/preventative, heat rash/diaper rash preventative/care, sometimes deoderant, chapped skin care, frostbite care on my chickens wattles/combs, ummmm, I think that's all.

It's awesome for frying eggs. I also use it in a lot of baking. Peanut butter-honey-coconut oil balls (awesome frozen treat).
We use Nutiva. We also use it for... a natural lubricant (I got that idea HERE, btw, and laughed when I read it, but it works!). And I use it for cracked heels in the wintertime.
