Do you keep a first aid kit in the car?

If so, what's in it?

Thanks!

Yes and I'm not exactly sure

It is an American Red Cross kit that came pre-packed. I know it has cleansers for scrapes/cuts/stings, tweezers, bandaids, gauze, medical tape, neosporin, little ice packs that you squeesze to activate etc. I also threw in a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a bottle of sterile water, extra large gauze pads and a sting stick for insect bites and stings.

This is basically what we have too. And I always have a fleece blanket back there, too.

Actually no, but I do carry a small firstaid pack in my purse: bandaids, disinfecting wipes, ointment. I have needed it on occasion so I'm glad I always keep it with me.

No. It's one of those things that seems like sort of a good idea to me on one hand, but I think it's just sort of impractical. Seems like some of the stuff wouldn't hold up well being stored in the car due to the extreme temperatures and would need to be replaced frequently. We are never that far from home anyway.

We have some first aid pack in the car, but I have no idea what's in it!

In my purse, though, I always carry:

Various sizes of bandaids
A tube of Neosporin
Antibacterial wipes and gel
Moleskin
Sunscreen

I've used all of these more times than I can count, and given them out to other moms/kids who've had accidents and don't have Bandaids with them.

Yes, and I've needed it a couple of times. Once a kid at the park fell and whacked his chin hard on a tree stump. I had a pre-packed Red Cross First Aid kid and we used the antiseptic wipes, some gauze, and some butterfly strips. It was actually bad enough that the kid needed to go to the ER for stitches, but that kept it contained long enough for the aunt to call the parents, hustle her kids and her nieces/nephews into the car, and get to the hospital.

Another time my husband badly tripped on a middle-of-nowhere stop of a car trip. Again we needed the antiseptic wipes, some antibiotic cream, and some bandaids.

My kid gets a lot of minor scrapes, and I probably should actually use the antibiotic cream more often.

ETA: as for what else is in there, it's mostly the things I mentioned above, plus individual packs of tylenol and advil. There are also some anti-itch items, though oddly I don't think there's any antihistamine.

Yes.

Bandages
Elastic bandage
Throw away wipes
Ibuprofen
Bug stuff (repellant and soothing)
Sun stuff
Instant cold packs.

My kids are monkeys. We need it all regularly.

Benedryl
Bandaids
Baby wipes

Always in my diaperbag.

Sometimes

Ours seems to keep working it's way out of the car. It'll be out for months and then somebody will think to put it back. I don't actually know what's in it. It seems to have a million band aids in different sizes.

i do and it is just a kit we picked up from the super market but really the only thing we use and the only thing we have ever restocked is bandaids.

if you were going to put one together I would go with some sanitizer, instantant ice pack, neosporine and baindaids. really if you are in town that is all you are going to need.

My car kit is more of an emergency/worst case scenario kit. I drive a lot on a major highway that is known for bad accidents. It's not outside of the realm of possibility I will one day be the first on an accident so I keep lots of gloves, a pocket mask, blankets, compress bandages, triangulars, etc. in there. I have a LOT more in my car than in the house.

We have a pre-packaged car safety kit as well. My DF is "Safety Dad". It has all of the standard first-aid type stuff like bandages and ointments, as well as road markers, an emergency blanket and jumper cables.

Thanks for all the replys. I have been thinking about putting one together, but I not sure what it should have and where to keep it? Under a seat? With my memory I'll forget it's there.

I have always had bandaids and a tiny neosporin in my purse and it has come in handy many, many times. But now I find my self thinking I should be more prepared. For what I don't know. It's true I'm usually never more that 15 min from a store.

Where would I find instant cold packs? That sounds handy.

I have one in small bag that goes everywhere with us. I think there is neosporin, bandaids and some type of wound cleaner (not peroxide but not sure what)

Yep and I have no idea what is in there! I've never opened it, it's a larger Red Cross one. I also keep an emergency car kit as well. Emergency blanket/poncho things, flares, matches, water, food, and several other things. We live in a mountain area, I've personally cared for people in the hospital here that have been stranded in their car waiting for rescue after surviving their car going off the side of a cliff. Some of the highways here are not for the faint of heart! I keep everything in a milk crate in the back of van although I'm thinking of trying to cram things under the back seats because I really need to cargo space with the addition of DS...

we have the a first aid kit (pre packaged) from johnson/johnson:
band-aids,ointment,disenfectant wipes,guaze,tape,assort. gauze pads

we also have various road accident stuff like a unit that will jump start our car remotely which also provides us electricial outlet/light/flashing red light. We also have flares and pop up cone and various tools for a flat tire.

Yes, the standard stuff like bandaids, ice packs, gauze, tweezers, scissors etc. Plus blankets in the winter and an emergency kit of wipes, diapers, food and water (which is more for "Oh crap! I'm out of diapers" moments than a real emergency).

I have one under the passenger seat. I bought it prepackaged with all the standard first-aid stuff.
