Weekly Chat June 2nd-8th

Well, this week is already half over, but I figured I'd throw a little chat thread out there out of principle.

Are any of you ladies still nursing your youngest? My nips are about to fall off...they are so tender and my little man latches on with such vigor that I almost pass out ever time he nurses! Well, I exaggerate a little, but you catch my drift...

My DD is nursing still and she will be 2 in 2 weeks. She nurses a lot still both for calories/nutrition and for comfort. Last week it was rough over night because she was nursing so much but this week has been so much better since she went back to her usual 1-2 night time nursings. During the day it doesn't bother me much. I will say though that I must have tough nipples since I have never had any discomfort with nursing even in the early days. I nursed my son throughout my last pregnancy and while I never hurt later in the pregnancy I was just touched out but we made it work so we both were okay with it. He continued nursing for another 15 months after DD was born.

Oh and I can still feel my uterus when she is nursing. Interesting feeling.

I don't normally have any problems with tenderness either, just the tender-nip-syndrome brought on by this pregnancy plus him nursing hurts! I know it'll get better in a couple of weeks. Do you plan on tandem nursing? I'm working full-time and will be a couple of months after my babe is born, so I don't know how nursing/pumping and tandem nursing will work out. Maybe he'll just wean himself when my belly gets big.

I'm barely still nursing my youngest. He turned 1 in February, and has been slowly weaning himself. He's only nursing once or twice in a 24 hour period now, so should be done soon. That works for me, as I've not really been comfortable with nursing during pregnancy. I tend to start getting really irritated with it.

Out of curiosity, what music do you guys listen to? I listen to a variety, but mostly acoustic soft rock and reggae. I listened to a lot of reggae when I was pregnant with my second, and he dances every time he hears reggae! I was just thinking of that because I have my playlist going and a Bob Marley song came up.

I do plan to tandem nurse. I tandem nursed my DS and DD for 15 months and he self weaned shortly after his 4th birthday. I hope the same for DD. I want her to wean on her own not just because I am pregnant and there isn't milk left. That would make me sad.

As far as music I listen to pretty much everything - country, pop, rock, alternative, you name it.

Is it normal for the sore boobs/nips to subside as the pregnancy progresses?

My symptoms (including sore boobs) came and went during my last pregnancy. So far I have no symptoms with this one, so I keep wondering if I'm really pregnant!

I'm nursing my soon to be 28 month old! He really only nurses for comfort, in the morning, for nap and for bedtime. It is slightly irritating on my nipples, but my breasts don't seem to be sore. I assume that's because of the current nursing. My first son weaned when I was pregnant with my 2nd and I am hoping that happens this time as well, although I won't push it.

Night and nap nursing my 16 month old. I'll slowly encourage him to self-wean as it is pretty uncomfortable.

Sadly DS2 and I weaned abruptly back in Jan/Feb because I was gone so much with my mom in Hospice and then her passing.

Music- I listen mostly to Contemporary Christian nowadays, but I listen to pretty much everything that doesn't have a bunch of offensive lyrics (and a few songs that do )

I keep having crazy twin vibes...its driving me nuts!! My back and chest don't hurt anymore so thats good. Getting the dizzies every once in a while.

I'm not on progesterone supps, but my boobs are killing me and I've been falling asleep for DS's nap everyday. Sometimes just for a few minutes, but the other day it was over an hour. And I am NOT a napper under normal circumstances, never have been, not even way back in kindergarten!

So I have a headache from hades and its darn near crippling. I tried eating something, drinking water, taking a nap, DTD (hoping maybe the happy endorphins would help...,) the only thing left is taking Tylenol so I guess I will...I just hope it goes away soon because 2-8pm is a long time to deal with two kidlets by yourself with a headache.

Yikes on the headache hon! Hope you're feeling much much better now. I know I used to be a stickler for not taking medication and insisting on napping away my aches & pains. These days, there are just too many things to do and too many people to look after, so I dip into the pain meds a lot more than in the past.
