Might Be Labor - UPDATE POST 16

This might be the real thing. Contractions started about 10 minutes apart around 2pm today. Then 7 minutes apart and 4 minutes apart. Now it's 3:55 and they are every 5-6. Pretty painful but not intolerable at all yet. Waters still intact.

DH left work and is on his way home - he should be here in another 10 minutes or so. Then it's a 30+ minute drive to our NCB friendly hospital. Not sure yet if we are bringing DD with us (grandparents can take her from there) or dropping her off on the way.

Can't imagine this will be a fun car ride with the contractions and an almost 4 year old, but...

Hope this is the real deal and I'm holding a healthy baby soon!

Update! It was really labor. And FAST! By the time DH got home it was like 4:40 (traffic) and we left 5 minutes later. Contractions getting stronger (but still able to breathe through them) and 3-5 minutes apart. TERRIBLE traffic on way to NCB hospital. Got over the bridge at like 5:30 and still a lot of traffic ahead (and would be another 15-20 minutes without traffic) and DH asked the tollbooth clerk if we could get a police escort past the traffic as the contractions were getting even stronger and more painful. Meanwhile, DD fell asleep in her booster seat (thank goodness).

No police escort, but an ambulance instead! So I got in the back, in a stretcher - one guy driving, one guy talking to me and timing my contractions - steadily 3 minutes apart now. BUMPY ride! but good thing I got in - with the bad rain and an accident we got to the hospital and I was checked in at 5:50 and was 5 cm and 100% effaced, 0 station. DH got there at 6:15. My OB got there 6:35 and I was 7cm. Very soon after in full on transition (intense) and then fully dilated at 7:10 and he was born at 7:37 after 4 pushes and a minor tear.

Name is Matthew Jordan Blass. He was 7'1 and 21 inches. We are home now and he is doing great and big sister is doting all over him! I feel good other than MONSTER hemmorhoids. Such an easier/shorter labor (and recovery) than I had with DD. Yay!
