I need help with my BF

So I may or may not have PPD, but I am having a really hard time adjusting to being a mom.

Sometimes this results in me saying things like, "I can't do this, I'm not meant to be a mom, this is too hard I can't handle it"

And my BF decides that this is the time to find a solution. His favorite? "Well, if you don't think you can do this, maybe you should move out and my mom can take over child care for me since she's retiring."

How do I make him understand that his mother taking over for me while I move far away IS NOT THE SOLUTION????? And, that it is NOT EVER an appropriate thing to say to me???

Could you explain to him that whne you say things like that what you are looking for is reassurance that you are a good mum and that he is there for you and that these feelings won't last forever?

These are a couple of websites which provide information for partners.

All the best.

I've tried that. He thinks that b/c however unlikely it is it is still a possible solution, and b/c it isn't said in a way that is intended to offend me it shouldn't offend me or upset me. In theory he's probably right, but whenever it gets said I still feel absolutely 1000x worse than I did before it was said b/c I'm not rational when he says it.

I've tried to explain that to him to, and he says, "We can agree to disagree"

my suggestion is finding a local counselor who specializes in PPD. not only will you then be getting help for what you are going through, but your BF will see that you are taking action. Honestly I think being proactive about your mental health will really help him see that you are trying, and that you care about yourself, your baby, and him enough to get help.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I can definitely sympathize. Partners can have a really hard time with these things, cause they often just want to "fix" things. And with PPD there isn't really anything they can do except listen to us and love us, you know?
