Quick help please - gender specific gift bags for party tomorrow?

My 6yo's birthday party is tomorrow. She had originally planned on inviting just a bunch of her girl friends but then decided to invite the entire class. We have about 14 girls and 8 boys coming.

Last year, I bought a bunch of party favor kits on clearance. They are very girlie. There is a kaleidoscope that is fairly gender neutral (although they are purple with a flower on the side) but, everything else is pretty girlie - flower sunglasses, butterfly sticker etc... I didn't realize how girlie they are until just now.

So, would you give everyone the same thing or would you run out and get some things that are more boy friendly? And if so, what would you get?

Stickers, pencils, erasers. I think if there is time, I would run to the store, but if not, well then boys can sport flower glasses . My DS would have no problem with that .

I'd run out. Maybe you can find boy sunglasses at the dollar store or in a party favor section? My ds would have liked butterfly stickers but maybe you could pick up bug stickers if they seemed particularly girly (versus more realistic butterflies). The kaleidoscope sounds fine.

My almost 6 year old boy would be fine with the "girly" stuff. So I doubt I'd worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe run out and get some neutral stuff to add to everybody's bag. My son attended a birthday party that had boys and girls in attendance and they had separated the gift bags by gender. Not only was I annoyed because I specifically try to teach my child that there are no boy toys and no girl toys, only toys, but my son was annoyed because there were things in the girl bags that he wanted and didn't get to have because he was a boy.

I don't think a 6 year old would be upset if he got a butterfly sticker. A butterfly IS a bug, after all!

I wouldn't care...I do the same bags for everyone for dd's parties. Bouncy balls, organic fruit leathers &/or lollies, a piece of chocolate, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, stickers, etc. whatever I find when I'm out shopping.

Don't sweat it.
