hi, i have two sons that are 2 years and 10 months. both are not picky (at least i do not think so) and try a variety of different foods for their age. we often are out all day and do not like to stop to buy food. we would much rather pack food and snacks for our "excursions." the problem is we live in arizona and from the end of may to the middle of october it is nearly 100 degrees or above everyday. i was wondering if anybody had an suggestions of kid-friendly, healthy, non-perishable food?

they like bananas and they do ok in room temperature or outside. but in the intense heat, they don't survive well.

Muffins made with various fruits and vegetables. Or quick breads. Nut butters and celery. Dried fruit & nuts (gorp/trail mix). That's a hard one. Can you take a small cooler with you when you go out?

I highly recommend putting a cooler in the vehicle with an ice pack in it, just to keep things decently cool. Then you're not nearly as limited. Don't go around packing tuna salad or anything, but that will keep apples, sandwiches, bananas, and juices cool and yummy to eat. I need to take my own advice!

I like the idea of a small cooler too. I Just to keep things from getting too hot. Healthy snacks are always my downfall. I need to pay more attention to it, when it comes to weekly food planning.
